5.0 out of 5 stars Good For Biggest Freezers - Beware Return Shipping Costs
Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2023
Product is sturdy and overall pretty good quality (although lacks attention to detail - see sticker label placement, for example), and I can see it being really helpful in a very large deep freezer.

I watched videos of people having to do major freezer cleans before installing it, so I decided to get it at the same time I was getting my first deep freezer (7 cubic feet) and have it installed from the get-go. I read the measurements and was assured the baskets would expand to fit my freezer. There was no indication in the product description or reviews that size might be a problem.

Unfortunately when I got the baskets into the freezer, I found that although they expanded to meet the width of my freezer, length-wise they were too wide (see picture). I could make them fit but it required overlapping the baskets a little from side to side, which created instability in the system.

I contacted the company directly through their website and told them what happened, and they offered to customize the size. However, (1) they offered neither to cover the cost of shipping nor the cost of customization and (2) when I saw the system in a freezer of my size, I saw that its main benefit of slideable baskets wasn't applicable because there was no room for the baskets to slide.

Ultimately I returned the product because it wasn't going to provide the benefits it was designed to provide and making it useable at all was an expensive prospect for an already very expensive product.

I had ordered this product through Amazon instead of through the manufacturer/company's website because I wanted the ease of returning it just in case it didn't work out. BUYER BEWARE! For the first time ever, I had the experience on Amazon of the seller (the company) needing to approve my return, *and* return shipping was on me. Once my return was approved after my communications with the company, I was provided with a non-postage-paid return label.

I took it to the post office, then UPS, then fedex to price it out, and the cheapest shipping was over $100. So I spent over $100 on a system I did not even get to install. It left a really bad taste in my mouth.

That said, I appreciate that the company honored the refund because it was time-limited, and I mailed it back on the last day permitted (it took time to shop around for shipping costs, and in desperation I even listed the system on town websites to see if I could lose less money by selling it...but people who are obviously smarter than I am don't want to spend this kind of money on a freezer organization system for a small household deep freezer).

What I will say is that I found some YouTube videos on how to make my own freezer organization system with stackable, lidded IKEA containers with handles, and though I had to adjust the size of the wire rack the freezer came with to make it fit (bending the wires a little with my hand), it actually is an even better system for a small deep freezer. Everything is so contained, and I unexpectedly love having lids. It works excellently and was a tiny fraction of the cost of this sytem!

My advice is to get the FreezerMax only for exceptionally long deep freezers where there is plenty of room for baskets to slide...and only if you are 100% sure this system is going to work best for you. Do not even consider getting it and making a return if it doesn't work out...unless you are made of money and don't mind paying a good chunk of change for a system you can't use.

If your freezer is small enough to buy the mini system, think twice. There are some great, very functional, extremely good-looking systems that can serve you better.

Also, lesson learned: buying things on Amazon no longer means automatic ease of returns. For a small company shipping heavy items like this, I guess, they would rather the former-customer take the loss, even if the listed item didn't have enough product information to indicate the product may not work for some people. They aren't looking for repeat customers, and I guess that is probably okay for a company selling a niche product for lifetime use. I don't feel like this company was interested in building a relationship with me as a customer at all!

I recently purchased this 14.8 cu in Frigidaire chest freezer . Most people don't like chest freezers because they lack the ability to organize. I watched a video on the Freezermax system and was amazed how well it organized items for easy access. The first photo is the lower shelf that I had to overlap the baskets just a little but they won't be moved. The second photo is the second shelf and it works perfectly. The top shelf came with two baskets so I only added one but two will fit if needed. The only fault I found was the magnetic organizer was creased really bad. I really like this freezer because it has casters and is great to move for cleaning and loading. Awesome system, awesome freezer!

After watching the video my husband and put this into our 10cu ft freezer in MINUTES. Everything you need is provided in the kit. We were truly impressed . I am speechless. I don't need a huge freezer and our 10 cu ft was just the right size but came with no rails or baskets. FREEZERMAX made this small freezer 100x more useable and organized. I really can't say enough good things about this product!!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of wasted space
Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2023
I watched a lot of the review videos online for the FreezerMax system. It is true that it offers a good system for organization. However, there is a LOT of wasted space. I have a 16cuFt chest freezer and I ordered a side of beef and a whole hog thinking it would fit. The baskets are big enough, however the space lost between the baskets reduces the usable space and the meat that I ordered did not even come close to fitting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product but WATCH THE VIDEOS before you purchase
Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2023
Overview - I am happy with my purchase of the Freezer Max system. I understood just by seeing the product that I would lose freezer capacity. You can not expect to install something like this without that loss. If that is a problem for you then you need to consider something else. I estimate that I now have 1/3 less usable space in my freezer based on space between bins and leaving space to be able to slide the bins down the rails. I am find with that as we are a family of 3 now rather than a family of 7.

Installation - WATCH THE VIDEOS!! After watching the installation etc. videos available on Youtube I could see that I would have a few glitches that the video did not address. My freezer already had a small rail system in the middle for a single ridiculous basket. The rail ran the entire length of the freezer. Upon removing that rails (thank goodness it was installed with screws) I had some "molly screw" type plastic pieces that I could not take out. I would have to avoid them when putting in the new rails. I also had a plastic bulb that sticks out from the back side that I thing is a thermometer I also needed to avoid. And wouldn't you know it if I used the provided installation guides the rails would end up right on top of both. I was able to overcome this by cutting a 1" piece of wood that I put under the end of the blocks and just raised everything 1 inch. (This also gave me the added bonus of the sliding basket clearing the compressor box when sliding the second row so it was a win) But the entire figuring thing did complicate the process.
Another small snag I ran into is that my freezer walls have a wave in them from the old manufacturing process. I am assuming the foam used to insulate was some kind of spray in and trim before the side was added. This small wave created a situation where my new rails did not always contact every part of the side. I really had to push on the rails to make contact and had to even put some braces across the freezer to insure contact while they adhered. The extra steps seemed to do the trick. My freezer was 100% room temperature when the rails were installed. ALSO and so so IMPORTANT... WATCH THE VIDEOS... if you have an old freezer with a deep lid that actually protrudes down into your freezer like so many do, you could install the top rail and not be able to close your lid. I knew of the problem from watching the video about old freezers but could have easily screwed this step up without them.
(My system came with extra blue rails and I appreciated I did not have to order extra for my large freezer as was suggested in the videos)

Usage - The Freezer Max system does make it easy to find that food in the bottom of the freezer. The baskets are well made but I do wish they locked into place rather than being expandable all the time. I have found that I do have to adjust them sometimes after they have expanded from the pressure of the food inside. I think I am going to make a wire hook that will help keep them the size I want. Loss of space is REAL. Due to the dimensions of my freezer I can fit three baskets on the bottom two levels. Then use only 2 on the top level with one of my original baskets also on the top level. (I did not take the new blue rail all the way across the top or my old basket would not have fit.) This gave me 1 more basket than what comes with the system and helped reduce wasted space.
