Welcome, welcome back to the enchanting world of Caraval! Return to the legendary magic and the whimsical wonder with this holiday novella.

Snowflakes are falling.

Invitations are arriving.

And holiday magic is swirling in the capital city of the Meridian Empire.

It’s Great Holiday Eve Eve. Scarlett Dragna is planning a spectacular Holiday celebration for the city. Donatella is searching for the perfect gift. Julian is looking ridiculously handsome in green. And Legend . . .

Well, sadly Legend is not fond of the Great Holiday. Tella is hoping her perfect gift will change his mind. Unfortunately, she hasn’t found this perfect gift just yet. But it is Great Holiday Eve Eve . . . surely there’s some holiday magic swirling around.

Welcome, welcome back to the world of Caraval, where even holidays are not as they seem.

Set after Stephanie Garber's #1 New York Times bestselling Caraval series, this delightful novella will take readers on the ultimate holiday adventure full of clockwork boys, poisoned candy, impish snow globes, merriment, and—if Tella gets her way—love.

Spectacular is perfect for collectors, listeners, dreamers, and lovers of holiday magic.

A Macmillan Audio production from Flatiron Books.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointed...

I am a huge fan of Stephanie Garber, and have read both her trilogies without being able to hardly put any of the books down. I was excited for this Caraval novella to arrive, but was a little disappointed. This felt more like it was geared towards middle-school children with the large font and, although beautiful, juvenile illustrations throughout the book. I was able to finish it within an hour. I am still happy I ordered it so I can add it to my Caraval collection, but I expected a little more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and enchanting holiday read
Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2024
Stephanie Garber’s newest release, Spectacular: A Caraval Holiday Novella, was a fun return into the world of the original trilogy. It’s Scarlett’s first holiday season as Empress, and her sister Donatella has no idea of what to get her love Legend for the event. Her quest to find the perfect gift is a fun and quick adventure that will leave fans of the original books enchanted.

As expected from a novella, it’s a rather short story. A quick taste of the different characters, the whimsical aspect of the story was elevated by the illustrations interspersed throughout the pages done by Rosie Fowinkle (@/rosiethorns88 on IG). Overall, I enjoyed the read and I think it’s designed for fans of the original books (not so much those new to the series).

This book was cute but not near long enough and now makes me wish for another book in the series

This book read like something for a middle school aged reader, Tella with her obsession of kisses from Legend.
Reading this made me remember why I don't care for Tella especially after the stunt she pulled in Legendary. She was more juvenile than I remember her to be and horribly naive.
Interesting read but the whole scene in the room with the kidnapper was disturbing to say the least.
Guess if another story is to be done, let it be with the more stable couple, Scarlett and Julian.

4.0 out of 5 stars I usually love Stephanie Garber books but…

This should have came with warning signs. I was not okay with some of the scenes even though they make sense in the end of the book. I wish there was more hints at the beginning of the book. The whole thing was kinda creepy but I guess that’s normal for his character. Also, one thing I felt this book was missing was plot twists. I feel like all of her books have such great plot twist and this just seemed a little to much focused on like idk.. how to explain it. It was alright but I waited so long to read this book for it just be over so quick and just not the plot I wanted and also. The whole Christmas thing was just a bummer. Legend is like king of all magicalness and I feel like the plot could have been better and we need another book.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING

Another amazing story by Stephanie. This novella was shorter than I expected, (though was always titled a novella, so I supposed I should've known!) but full of holiday magic and ROMANCE! It was such a thrill to revisit Tella and Legend's romance specifically, I didn't realize how much I had missed their characters chemistry! This book only has me dreaming and *wishing through magic* for more!

2.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced novella
Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2024
The novella was much too expensive for the length of the book, which can be finished in less than an hour, and the story felt more like something that would be bonus content than its own book.
