For all of you saying this game doesn't work on newer computers it DOES and I will tell you how to get it to work. I have a Windows I believe 8 computer or 7 (I don't really know anymore) but these old games will still work you just have to do a few things to get them to run. First install it. If you are having problems go to my computer and find the game. You will see the icon under your hard drives. No not click that icon. It won't let you open it. Instead, click local disk and then program files (x86) and then find the file that says the learning company. Open it. Click on reader rabbit (or whatever it says your disk is) and you will see several applications and icons. Find the application to the game and LEFT click. Go to properties and then click on compatibility. Go to compatibility MODE and say run this program then select Windows 98 and then click apply and OK. You will have to go in and do this with the application set up and the preassess application. At this point you should be able to install the game HOWEVER it will tell you it won't run a 16bit on a 64bit (or something along the lines of that) THE NEXT STEP AFTER YOU CHANGE EVERYTHING OVER TO RUN ON WINDOWS 98 is that you have to open your internet and in your search bar type[...]
You need a dos box to run the 16bit game
It will take you to a blue website. Click on downloads in the top header and then DONT CLICK THE GREEN DOWNLOAD NOW find in the box where it says
WINDOWS 0.74. Win32 installer
Click and it will download and make an icon on your desktop. If it doesn't then go to my computer and find the DOSbox and make an icon on your desktop.
THE LAST STEP is to open up my computer and go back into local disk and into the program 86 folder and find the learning company and then reader rabbit and then back to all the applications for the disk. Now find the game CLICK AND DRAG THE GAME (it should have somewhere between 874KB and 1,132KB (the small one is the game the big one is a text for the game) and DRAG THE GAME AND DROP IT INTO THE DOSBOX ON YOUR DESKTOP. It should open and you should see lots of computer mumbo jumbo. Don't do anything with that just leave it open. Now you can go back over to the game you just dropped ontop the DOSbox icon on your desk top and double click the game. It should open and run just fine.
I hope this helps a lot of you. This is a really great game it just take a little work to get it to run since its an old game

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING - Program Disk May Have Malware
Reader Rabbit Personalized Kindergarten would not install on either of my XP machines. Install stops at 85% due to the presence of a malicious file on the disc called "dssagent.exe" which will attempt to install malware "dssagent.dll". It doesn't matter whether or not you turn off the Broderbund software updater option, it still does the same thing. Research on the internet indicates there is a problem with this particular title and various other Broderbund titles (arthur, carmen sandiego, etc) having this malware on the disc. Do your research before you buy! We also purchased the first grade edition which installed without a problem and compared the two items and found the bad Kindergarten set has different artwork than what is pictured on Amazon for this tiem. The first grade edition has the vertical blue bar on the right hand sidethat says "#1 in schools" in upper right hand corner. The defective kindergarten program did not have this design on the artwork AND IS VERY LIKELY A PIRATED COPY. Also the Kindergarten copy does not have any mention anywhere of where it was printed or manufactured, has no bar code, and says the Learning Company on it. The First Grade disc that worked was made in USA by Selectsoft and has a bar code. This was sold by another seller BUT FULFILLED BY AMAZON so be careful. REMEMBER, MAKE SURE YOUR DISCS ARTWORK MATCHES THE PICTURE ON AMAZONS SITE EXACTLY OR YOU MAY HAVE THE BAD VERSION I GOT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will not work on windows 10
I love this game. I grew up on it and it is a great learning tool. Although they need up update their stuff because while these will run on Windows 10 they don't let you finish the game. After playing some of the game it cuts out and kicks you off the game. My kids were really bummed because they LOVED this game!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great software for PreK
This is wonderful software. My daughter used to use reader rabbit software, but it has been many years, and there are many more things on the market now. The first time my son played he did need some supervision ..... for instruction in navigating the game, but could complete the learning tasks with little help. The adapt system is nice because it stays with the level he is at or challenges as needed.
We try to limit playing to an hour or so when it is too hot to be outside and it is a great, fun tool for learning.

5.0 out of 5 stars For my great granddaughter
My granddaughter got this when she was 18 months old. She adored it and would sit for hours at a time working with it. Before she was three she could read almost anything put before her. I am hoping for the same results for my little great granddaughter who will be two when she get hers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for my 5 year old
My grandson will be starting K soon. He likes the various choices and activities presented, some are more educational than others. My problem is that the format is not compatible with my newer Vista OS so he has to use it on my older computer with XP.
