5.0 out of 5 stars Wide variety of activities, but could be better if more clarity was provided

The wide variety of activities means there is always something new and different - and the printable activities (the mazes and books mean you can take the activities with you - COOL). Some activities are harder than others, but the hard ones give a challenge while the easier ones give some confidence building - and my little one rests a while in an easy activity and then gets back to the harder ones. He's learning to recognize letters and he's already good at hearing the rhymes even though he can't read them yet.
Previous reviewers said the game is confusing - yes it does take some figuring out, but I think it is more confusing to us goal-oriented adults. We want to know how to win the points and earn the prize. My son (age 3) just enjoys the playing - he doesn't really care if he collects enough letters to make a word - but that will come later. Now he's learning and when all that repetition makes collecting words easy then he'll figure out what to do with the word book.
The reviewer that suggested you learn how to play first and then guide your child was absolutely right. And that goes for ANY software at this age.
P.S. for all you goal-oriented adults: you earn letters by completing any task in any of the activities. When you get three letters they will be a three letter word. When you go to your word book these words will be waiting for you to put them on the page that matched the word color. Later you can insert these words in the blanks to make stories. You can even print the stories, or the book of words you collected, or the animal pictures you collected.

3.0 out of 5 stars Blue's Clues Preschool is Pretty Good

Blue's Clues Preschool is pretty good, but not great. My 3-1/2 year old daughter likes Joe and the animation... but it's a bit of a pig on performance and limited options. She plays this game the least of all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not impressed

Activities are slow. Everytime you move from one screen to another, a "loading" screen appears for about 15 seconds. There are no verbal instructions which tell the user how to move from one store to another. I had to call the help line. In the "Library" it asks the user to put away the books on the bookshelf. The book names are letters (like M). There is an "M" on the bookshelf. When the user clicks on the book and puts it away on the shelf where the "M" is located, the character on the screen never says that it is the letter "M".
I think the software could have been much better written.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great promise, does not deliver

I bought this after reading these reviews hoping for a fun new game for my 2 year old. He has already mastered the mouse, colors, numbers, alphabet & has several other preschool games.

This game is absolutely dull. The graphics are great, but it only holds his attention for a few minutes. The problem is that each section takes too long to load. Once loaded you have to listen to a VERY long discussion on each area. BORING! He looked at me & asked "play Elmo instead?"

He enjoys the free Sesame Street & Noggin websites much better then this game. Learning should be fun. I am very sorry I purchased this CD

    3.0 out of 5 stars Age Group 3-5 ???

My daughter absolutely loves Blue. She can watch the videos over and over. I bought this game to allow myself a little quiet time. So far she seems to love playing it. The thing is, she's only 19 months old. To be honest the game seems to lack substance. It's mainly alot of repetition that I think would be extremely boring for a 3-5 year old child. If she can "get it" now, then I can't believe that in a year from now she'd still want to play it. I wouldn't recommend this game for the intended age group. I would however recommend it to parents of younger children who are interested in taking the time to play the game with their child. When we first bought the game I needed to explain what was going on. The more she played however she began catching onto the concept (you have to help pick out gifts for customers, go to the grocery store, the library, etc.)
If you have extra money buy the game, if not get your child something you're sure they'll enjoy. Like I said this game seems to be more for a younger child and I don't see it entertaining their interests for too long a period of time.
