This book is engaging and practical, especially for beginners and travelers eager to immerse themselves in the Mexican Spanish language. The combination of essential travel phrases, cultural insights, and even playful slang makes this a well-rounded resource for anyone planning to visit Mexico or just wanting to expand their Spanish skills.
The first section is wonderfully structured, providing the foundational vocabulary and grammar needed to communicate confidently in everyday situations. It focuses on practical scenarios like ordering food and asking for directions—things you'll actually use. The pronunciation guides are clear, helping you sound more like a local, which I always appreciate when learning a new language. The cultural insights sprinkled throughout are a nice touch, helping you understand the context behind the words.
The second part dives into colloquial Mexican slang, and while it's more suitable for adults, it adds a fun and lively element to the learning process. The inclusion of real-life examples and tips on when to use certain expressions makes it feel less like a textbook and more like learning from a local friend.
One suggestion for improvement would be to add a bit more structure to the slang section, perhaps organizing it by themes or situations. However, the overall format is accessible, and the lighthearted tone keeps it engaging. This book is perfect for travelers, expats, or anyone looking to go beyond textbook Spanish and embrace the local flavor of Mexico.

This book offers a good introduction to Mexican Spanish, covering both basic conversational phrases and cultural insights for travelers. The grammar and pronunciation tips are straightforward, and the travel phrases are practical for navigating everyday situations.

The slang section is a unique addition, diving into informal expressions and providing examples that make it easier to understand their context. However, the adult-oriented slang may not suit everyone, so keep that in mind.

Overall, it’s a decent resource for beginners or travelers, though some sections feel more entertaining than in-depth. A good choice if you're looking for a mix of language basics and cultural flair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book! If you need audio clues to pronunciation, plan on buying that also

This is a great reference book for semi-beginner Spanish speakers. My pronunciation is pretty good so the not-included audio is not a problem to me. The ebook has a navigable Tablem of Contents, which is helpful. The sections are well thought out i.e., numbers, letters, medical, restuarant, ect. Each has example sentences to use the introduced word.
It's a keeper until I get conversational. Thanks for a great reference book!

I've always been curious about the meaning of some bad Mexican words I heard in movies—aha! Seriously, I loved it, especially the 'Fun and Engaging' section. Everything was clearly written, and I highly recommend it

I loved this book as it helped me brush up on my Spanish that I hadn’t used in a long time. I valued the insights into the Mexican culture and the various slang one can use to connect on a deeper level with the locals in Mexico or even those you may encounter in the US. This book is extremely useful if you are embarking on a journey to Mexico, be it for a vacation or longer stay.

This is a fantastic book to learn various degrees of Spanish. Much of what you can learn in the classroom is in this book, but also what they don't teach you. You can learn the colloquial terms and phrases that are generally learned over time and through explanations from anyone who has time to explain. Great read, a lot to learn.

This 2-in-1 guide to Mexican Spanish is exactly what I needed to build on the basics I learned in school. The slang section is particularly fun and authentic, with real-life examples that help you feel more comfortable using it naturally. 3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of great information but needs additional access to audiobooks for supporting details...

I like how the book has a focus on words that one would use in real conversations and when it's appropriate to use or not. I don't think it is for a true beginner as there isn't any information about pronunciation. I did not get the audiobook supporting resources. It would be nice to know before purchase that those resources are critical for the successful use of the book.
