5.0 out of 5 stars Great Wine Kit !

I purchase this kit in 2022 for $106. Price now $120+. Don't ya love inflation! ????
I've been making wine for 30 years and found this kit easy to make. This is my 24 wine kit. Ya just need to ensure everything is clean and sterilized before you get started. The entire process took about 2 months from start to bottling. You're making wine, not beer, so it takes a bit more time. This kit makes about thirty (30) 750ml bottles.
Today is mid April 2024 and I finally opened the first bottle. Yum! ????. Wine is superb, nice aroma, body with a slight amber color. Is it as good as making wine from quality fresh grapes or from a more premium ($$) wine kit? No, but it's very close. If you served this wine to your friends or guests they would be very pleased and surprised when you tell them it's homemade wine. I just may purchase another kit, even at the higher price. ????

5.0 out of 5 stars Riesling turned out excellent!

This is the first time for me with a Master Vintners kit. All the wine I’ve made thus far has been Vintner’s Best. You get one more gallon but still I little pricier than Vintners best. I wanted a white wine in the mix of my various reds but middle of the road sweetness so I decided to go with this. It is light bodied with a little fruity taste but good citrus snap. I followed the directions to a T. Gifted a bottle to a friend and she’s a Chardonnay gal and she likes it too. Hope this helps you make a decision or not to purchase and make. I had to go buy 2 -6 gallon carboys as all I had was 5s. Not disappointed in this choice at all! Will definitely buy again!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice medium priced kit

Been making this for 2 years. Produces a better wine than medium priced box or bottled wine. Sometimes I use the wood and sometimes I don’t, not a big difference. We have a room we keep at 73 with a space heater and within 24 hours of starting it is bubbling and after 1 week add nutrients directly, haven’t found it necessary to mix in warm water. I let it sit for another 2 weeks and kill the yeast. 2 days later rack, 2 days after that bottle. Hint a glass Carboy is nice but I gave mine away and use Big mouth Bubblers with bottom spouts now which makes racking s breeze

5.0 out of 5 stars Purchased Over 6 Kits

We enjoy Master Vintner wine kits, both reds and whites. A key to the successful making of the wine is to monitor the S.G. while adding water. We have had more flavorful results by adding a little less water than instructed. We aim for starting S.G. of around 1.092 - 1.090. Also the amount of oak chips added and how long they are part of the fermentation process will also impact final results. We prefer a little less tannin taste so we only add about half of what is supplied. I truly feel the end results is comparable to very expensive wines. David B.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ingredients only kit - does not include the equipment and accessories needed
Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2022
It’s crazy how many people order these kits thinking it contains every item needed to make and bottle wine. The kits only contain the items defined in the description which is usually the grape juice, chemical additives and directions. The buyer will need to purchase the fermentation equipment, bottles, corks, etc. Or buy a equipment kit which comes with the equipment needed, but the bottles/corks.
These companies have removed all the guess work from the process and the instructions walk you through the timeline on when you make your next step.
I highly recommend either you do a lot of research if just starting or you find a local wine supply shop in your area. The startup kits come with the basic items, but there are upgrades to many items to make the process easier and more rewarding.
I normally make the wines exactly as directed, then I will either bottle or blend. I blend wines together and I’ve fortified with brandy to get a smoother blend with a higher alcohol content (port-like).
So for those of you looking to get into wine making, please stop sending in comments that you thought it was everything you need to include the equipment - it’s not! For those of you which actually read the description and want to know more; research is key. This is a wonderful hobby, the upfront cost for the equipment ranges from $100-$300 depending on the fermentation equipment purchased, your corking installation tool selected, and if you purchase or save and reuse bottles.
    Cheers and good luck!

5.0 out of 5 stars Haven't had this good of Shiraz in ages!

My father used to fly to Spain on business trips, he said he would always get local Shiraz (or Syrah, same thing). And ever since he has been retired, he has never been able to get good Shiraz in the states. We made this kit together, and for me it was quite good, but he explained that this was some of the best Shiraz he has had since he stopped going to Spain. So, if you have any doubts, this is a really good wine kit. Follow the instructions and you will be all good, though I do not think the need for potassium sorbate is required for Shiraz at least. Made 27 bottles!

I was skeptical about this kit but it ended up making a really good wine. I did not add any of the preservatives or sulphates that came with the kit to the wine. I only used them for cleaning/sanitizing equipment but between having friends over and going through 3-4 bottles at a time it didn’t last long enough to need preservatives.
