I bought two of these. One for my husband and one for my son. They both love them. There is plenty of storage and it is easy to carry. Much more convenient than trying to carry tackle boxes and multiple poles from the truck to the lake or pond. Everything in one bag that you can just sling over your shoulder and go. There is even enough room to pack a folding chair or two.

I used this to carry surf rods through a walk-only access to where I wanted to fish and it got the job done.

    External Capacity:
I carried (4) 10'-12' rods with very large reels and (4) sand spikes in the external holders. I think it would work best with the reeIs removed and stored inside the main compartment. If you were to do this it would keep the reels from colliding with each other while you walk. I believe there was capacity for (5) rods in the external holders and a large tapered pocket that I slipped the sand spikes into.

    Internal Capacity:
I also placed a small cutting board w/ misc tools and (3) 3600 series boxes in the main compartment and had a tremendous amount of spare room in the main compartment. The main compartment has a draw string closure on one end and a long zipper on the side so you can carry some longer items

Handles/strap: It has a side carry handle and a single should strap. If you have to carry it very far I would use the shoulder strap in a cross body configuration.

    Pro:
Lots of storage capacity, pockets etc, fairly durable fabric

    Con:
Zippers in salt water fishing will inevitably seize, I would of preferred a different closure system such as velcro or maybe the really large plastic zippers that are less prone to seizure.

    Overall:
It works and is affordable, if it fails I would buy another one.

    Modification:
I would like to mess with it to see if I can figure out some kind of internal structure for it. This would allow the bag to support itself on the beach without falling over. I'm thinking a thin sheet of rigid plastic rolled up inside the main compartment would work well and keep the weight down.

May need some modifications. But it is great for manipulating or modifying as needed. I add the concrete tub and it was great. May do more modifications, but I have no complaints.

I had a lot of PVC laying around with no place to store it, so I made a bunch of rod holders for travel. Normally this would be an expensive ordeal and cardboard mailing tubes would do just fine. But, I used what I had. It resulted in a need to carry all the tubes (cardboard, PVC, whatever) so I could toss them in the back of a cargo van, stand in a corner, or laying on the kayak rack in the back of my van. I looked at microphone gig bags, camera umbrella stand bags, etc. then saw these for carrying rods on the outside. PVC tubes do not fit in the rod holder pockets of this bag so they are useless to me in that function, but the inside of the bag is big enough to carry many 2", 1 1/4", PVC tubes containg my rods. You can get these for about $20 if you are not fussy about the color. The canvas bag stands 36" not including the hood that I don't use and just collar it down. I wanted was something to hold all my rods together while I travel. Most bags I would have to buy need a zipper equal to the longest tube I had (about 49"). I did not care if they stuck out of the bag. I could use a couple of bungee cords to do the same thing as this bag and not need to spend the $20. But I did, and here's what you get.
    PROs:
If I wanted, I could store 5 rods on the outside in the holders AND carry about 12ea 2" tubes in the middle. Thats a lot of rod tubes.
It has a zipper to acces the tubes in the center and since I have a couple of short 3 and 4 piece travel rods in a short case I could get easier access to them through the zipper.
It has a shoulder strap and seems sturdy enough to carry a lot of weight (2" PVC tubes weigh a lot).
Time will tell but the stitching seems sturdy enough and has not broken yet. Probably not rated for the amount of weight I put in it but so far so good.
The canvas is heavy enough to suit my purpose but its not heavy duty canvas like army duffle bag quality.
At the end of the tube there is a draw string with locking slide you can close up over your tubes if they are short enough.
It has an outside pocket in case I have shorter tubes.
I like that its open ended. Its like a giant quiver.
    CONs:
The zipper is not heavy duty. Treat it gently.
The outside pocket is long and deep having no worthwhile use for me except to hold travel rods too short for the middle compartment.
If you carry exposed rods in the designated holders on the outside, you don't want any weight on the inside or your rod eyes will get crushed when you put it on the ground and reels will get scratches, etc. There is no protection. This thing is not padded anywhere.
SO: All in all I got this as kind of a cheap golf bag to keep my rod tubes from rolling all around. I think $20 was maybe too much for that purpose. I would not recommend this bag for protection of your gear, but it serves its intended purpose of just a large carry bag from your vehicle to the house or river. You COULD fit a fold up lawn chair and its tube cover into the center of this bag, put a standard three tray tackle box on top of that, five rods on the outside and about 4 PBJ sandwiches in the outside pocket (the last one would be hard to get to and likely smashed). THAT would be a good setup for catfishing.
