I thought the sliding and lifting platforms meant that I could store the tiny items under them. Turns out they can't be used for storage. There's NOTHING in this set for storing the teeny tiny pieces. Looking at the depths of the different areas and the gap across the middle of the bottom of the boat, I can see where they easily could've added a door on the boat floor so the little pieces could be stored in the hollow inside of the boat. But no, they did not give us a place to store these teenincy pieces.
It's weird that the accessories and most of the pieces you need for assembling the boat come in envelopes with big question marks on them, as though they are bonus surprises. There are no surprises in those; just the pieces you need for assembling the boat, and the advertised accessories. (Well, SOME of the advertised accessories. You don't get most of the figures shown on the front of the box. It says in tiny tiny TINY print that the other pieces are not included, but it is very VERY tiny print, and of course kids think they're getting what they see. It's intentionally dishonest and misleading!)
The coconut cup is not white on the inside like it is in the picture. It's a small thing, but it makes a big difference since without the white it no longer looks like a coconut.
The paint on Hei Hei and Moana is a little sloppy, but they're so tiny that the sloppiness isn't tooooo noticeable.
It's a good set, but it isn't really worth $30. I'd like to have some of the other new Moana toys (like the other figures that this set advertises but does NOT include, grumble grumble!), but I'll be waiting for a sale. The pack of just the missing figures, with no playset or accessories, just the figures, is a crazy $20! No way. Not worth it. If I can't find them at least at half price, I won't be getting them. They are too overpriced for what they are.
