    I have a couple of these. Great for traveling, showing where you have been and where you need to visit next. Also great for kids to learn about the different countries.

    My new husband I and have traveled quite a bit individually (my husband in particular), and I decided to get this as our one year anniversary gift in order to document our travels together. I loved the idea of having the country flags displayed as well as the map itself, which is why I chose this specific model. The map itself its stunningly lovely with the gold and black alone, but the pops of color as you remove the filigree gives a certain sense of satisfaction that cannot be ignored. The filigree comes off easily with a coin, credit card, or fingernail (I use a credit cart to cut away specific lines). The colors are vibrant and the black background is exceptionally scratch resilient, keeping the map looking like new, even if you scratch outside the lines.

    I would post pictures, but the map is too stunning for me to tack to the wall, so it is living in its box until I can frame it and hang it on the bedroom wall. (The box itself is even cheekily adorable).

    Love it! Scratching stuff off is crazy fun. The flags are a welcome addition to every other similar item out there. My only tiny nitpicks:

    1- As others mentioned, it's a little smaller than you might be expecting.
    2- The roll is fairly tight, and you'll have to contort it a bit to get it to lie flattish. They do provide some instructions to help though.
    3- As a result, mine came with a few areas where the foil was lightly scraped or damaged during this flattening process (or maybe even before then). And in the process of scratching off some of the places I've been, I caused a few more to appear with my hand or palm.
    4- The foil outlines don't precisely match the map underneath, mine had some offset, so you will occasionally screw up scratching things off on the borders.
    5- Since each US state is separate, and more colors costs more to produce (I assume), some neighboring states are the same color, which is a small shame.
    6- 210 flags are included, so some additional "countries" like Aruba and Abkhazia are included, but other similar ones like Curacao are not. It's just a little random, but they're listed alphabetically so either it's there or it's not.

    Don't let my list fool you. These are tiny nitpicks. Overall it's an awesome map, and lots of fun to research which little islands or border countries to scratch off.

    Tip: I used a flosser pick to do my scrapings. Thin and pointy enough for detail work, but stiff enough to scrape the foil without damaging the plasti-paper underneath.

    I purchased this to keep track of my past and future travel is 2020. Unfortunately, it hasn't lasted. My travel was impacted by COVID, so there was a period of almost 4 years where I didn't update and scratch off the places I visited. I just tried to update the map and there's an issue with scratching off the covering. This is very disappointing, as I can no longer update my map. This worked very well when I initially purchased it, but hasn't lasted.
