5.0 out of 5 stars So nice to open!

I've had this knife for almost 5 months now. I liked it so much I bought a second knife about a month after the first one. I’ve carried a knife pretty much all of my life, ever since I was a little kid and my parents gave me my first pocket knife. Before this Civivi, I carried a Ka-bar Dozier Hunter folding knife for the last few years. I have both the full-size Dozier and the smaller one. Both are excellent knives and I still very much like them. However, I find myself carrying and using the Civivi now.

The quick, one-fingered opening is one of the nicest features of the knife. It is so quick and so simple to open. Closing the knife is a little bit more cumbersome than most knives I am used to, but after a little practice it’s become easier. It’s definitely nothing that makes me not want to carry or use the knife. The Mini Praxis is robustly built and feels very solid. There is no wiggle or play and everything that should be is nice and flush.

The scales are very comfortable and the texture offers a nice grip. I find the size of the handle plenty adequate (I have fairly large hands), and the blade length is just right. The steel is great. It came with a very nice edge and it holds that edge well. It also sharpens up surprisingly easily with a stone. The knife is a bit heavier than the Dozier, but not so weighty it tugs my shorts down! I don’t use the clip but I imagine for those who do it would be just fine.

All in all, this is a very fine knife for a surprisingly good price.

Despite it's smallish size, this is real quality and very slick design. Definitely an everyday no nonsense pocket knife. Operates smooth as silk.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good knife for the price

First for the very good. The knife looks and feels like a quality product. It has a nice blade for the price (good grind and quite sharp). Since its D2 I suspect it won't hold an edge terribly long, but it's easy to sharpen. The G10 scales look and feel great. They are nicely chamfered, with recessed bolts and good texture. The knife feels very good in the hand, and has a very good blade to handle ratio. I like that disassembly screws are all T8, and that clip is recessed into G10 scales. The flipper works fairly well, but sometimes doesn't fully deploy for me. I can live with that because a quick wrist flick fully opens it, and it's gotten a bit better after breaking in. I may try to play with the tension on the pivot screw to see if I can improve flipping action without introducing blade play.

What led me to knock off one star is that the liner lock is hard to get to with my right thumb when I am holding it in my right hand, and it's very hard to disengage on my example with my right thumb. I tried to fidget with it to break it in and my thumb is very sore and my my thumbnail is pretty worn. I think its gotten a little better with break in, but still tough on my right thumb. If I close two handed, it's not really a problem. I'm surprised more reviews don't comment on this. Maybe I just got a tighter one, or maybe this is how most liner locks are.

In any event, if you are looking for a very fidget friendly one-handed knife, this might not be the best choice. But if you're looking for a very good looking, good feeling knife with a decent blade at a budget price and don't care about fidgeting with the knife, this would be an excellent choice.
