5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!

While the initial default "airbrushing" this software did was a little strange (it changed the shape of the face too much), you can easily go in and adjust every little detail with sliders. It's pretty amazing! It is incredibly easy to use and the end results are just fantastic!! I used to spend so much time working on people's skin in portraits and fashion shoots and had a really hard time with it, but now, with this software, my editing time is cut in half. And the end result wasn't too fake-looking, either. It's possible to make it look really natural. Again, people just need to be really aware that they'll likely need to make some adjustments after the program runs its edit, but it's incredibly easy to do, and doesn't take much time at all, especially after you get the hang of it. To sum it up, I love this product!!!

Portrait Professional is a good application for amateur photographers who don't have hours on end editing their work. I do a lot of boudoir type photography and this product does very well in cleaning up some imperfections. It's quick and easy to use, which is probably its biggest upside. On the con side, it only works optimally if the model's entire face is facing forward, or for a clear profile. Angles and 3/4 shots are very difficult and it's best not to use PP. Also, product will make model's face look almost like an exaggerated anime shot; you really have to learn how to tweak pictures to avoid this. Still, a good product and I'm happy with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars does what it says

I ordered it for two day shipping but still took 5 days..and it came in an envelope ..no paperwork on the order or anything .. surprised it wasn't damaged. Other than that .. the product basically does what it advertised ..thought it would have more functionality but not completely dissatisfied.. A bit overpriced in my opinion ..

1.0 out of 5 stars One use software. Screw THEM ~

The program is OK and simple for doing portrait work. But they have a one-time use on their product. I updated to a new computer and now I can't load the software as their token has an expiration. BullCrap! I bought the program, I should be able to use it on however many personal pc's I have. I just upgraded my computer and bought the damn software less than 6 months ago! I wrote technical support weeks ago and haven't heard back from them... Anthropics lost a lifetime of business from me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Flexible Enough

I used a free version of this previously that offered about the same features as this costly version. I needed something to take away red eye and eye reflection and this just wouldn't do what I needed it to do. It is just not flexible enough. I do not recommend this software purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Software!

I really love this software!! I had PP10 download version but decided to get the DVD this time around just to have a hard copy. I really like the this updated software now does some of the steps for you where the last software did not. The price is also very reasonable in comparison to other similar software. You can't go wrong with Portrait Professional for the price and for how easy it is to use.

    4.0 out of 5 stars A great time-saving tool

Portrait Professional is an excellent tool to simplify digital photo retouching. I work at a high-volume portrait studio and it has made our work much more efficient.

Please note that there are different versions of this software. I use the Photoshop plugin at work, and it is the best choice for rapid workflow. I can edit an image in Photoshop (adjusting exposure and color, removing sensor dust spots, etc.) and then go directly into Portrait Professional for retouching. After that's done, I exit the plugin and can do further adjustments in Photoshop if necessary and then finally save the edited image. The other version is a stand-alone product, which I purchased from Amazon for use at home. It requires me to save my initial edits as a file, which I then open in Portrait Professional. After retouching, the software exports another version of the file. The plugin costs more, but is definitely worth it for the seamless workflow it offers.

I was initially put off by the extreme changes that Portrait Professional can do to subjects, such as resculpting their facial features. But it's fairly easy to turn these adjustments down, or off entirely, and save commonly used settings as default profiles. By doing so, I can literally open an image in Portrait Professional and not need to make any further retouching steps before exporting it.

One significant drawback of Portrait Professional is that it does not work well on black and white images. The program simply doesn't recognize skin tones, so it's necessary to "paint" the face with a brush to identify the skin. If you plan to convert a photo to black and white, retouch it first as a color image. [The retouching software program I used prior to Portrait Professional had similar problems with black and white pictures.] A few times, Portrait Professional has produced a strange horizontal line at the exact halfway point of an image. I wanted to report this error to the software developer, but the documentation and company Web site did not offer a means to do so.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not so simple as it is presented...

It's fine to add to my arsenal of programs I use for photo editing but it is most definitely NOT a 'miracle' program and anyone who is looking for such a thing should look elsewhere.
