i found an old polaroid 600 camera in my attic and tried some new film in it. the pictures come out GREAT! the film was only 2 months old which was better than the I type film i received (it was almost 16 months old). it’s a little pricey, but it’s good quality for an instant camera that’s ~30 years old.

Got this film for my camera, which is from 1993 and passed down from parents. I thought it didn’t work anymore, but these films turned out amazing! The photos have such a classic, nostalgic feel, and now they’re some of my absolute favorites. Now I’m bringing this camera to any party I attend. Even though I have a professional camera and the latest iPhone, these Polaroid shots are my favorites!

4.0 out of 5 stars Film was fresh, developing takes some 20 min.

The film is fresh.. 11-2024.. I recieved an old Polaroid with flash. It take a lot of time to develope, almost 20 min before the image is totally visible. I've read to keep it blocked from light when it come out of the camera. Expensive per shot, $2.5 to $3.12 per shot. This was a used 40 year old Polaroid, I see there are "new" models out there.
  • Great product, worked well in my classroom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product and exactly what I was hoping for

Great for making memories and snapshots of good times. I have a 60 year old Polaroid from my grandpa and I started using it a few years ago, made a scrapbook for sister using all the Polaroid pics I took from the bachelorette trip and she loved it. Taking a picture completely in the moment is lost these days with our phones so it’s nice to do something old school. Great exposure, and fun to see it come to life within minutes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really nice but nothing special
Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2022
People rave about using the 600 series film in newer Polaroid instant cameras like the Now and Now+ among others. Honestly, I got it thinking that there’d be some difference in exposure, color, or both. There is but it’s almost totally negligible. If I were to do it again I would make my purchase based on price, not hype because the i-Type and 600 series are basically the same with the i-Type not having a built in battery (because it doesn’t need one because the camera itself is its battery).

The image quality is nice and I like it. I ended up mixing up some 600 series color photos with some i-Type photos and I could not tell you which was which and this was only like a day ago. I like the vintage aesthetic of the packaging and how thin it it. I know the new i-Type packaging also goes for that same aesthetic but there’s just something about the i-Type presentation, when compared to the old 600 series film, that makes it obvious they’re trying to make the new stuff look like it’s cool 90s stuff which I object to as a person who grew up as a child in the 90s and remember them fondly.

Anyway, the photo quality is great. Maybe the 600 does get a little underexposed and you’ll want to keep that aperture open just a little longer if you can in low light. Clarity is what you’d expect from a 600 series. It’s crisp enough but not crisp. By that I mean you see what’s happening in the photo but it looks like an 80s/90s Polaroid which is a great aesthetic.

In the end I think that your decision is going to be based on your technical knowledge of how instant cameras work, the hobby itself, and what’s cheapest. If you’re a casual instant photographer then I’d stick with the film your camera recommends not because it gives better results but because you may end up spending more money for something that you can’t even see the difference in.
