Love extension and fine mesh of net. Also not flimsy and is holding up well as needed to catch wandering birds

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect size for rounding up bantam chickens
Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2020
This is the perfect net for what we needed it for! In our flock of 5 chickens, we have two new bantams (miniature) hens, one of which does not like to come in for the night. After double-teaming her, chasing her all around the chicken pen, with her getting more and more scared and freaked out, it finally dawned on me that a net could help the situation. I first tried our pool net, which worked well, but the shape wasn’t ideal. After reading a ton of reviews of nets, I chose this one, and it’s perfect. It has a very solid handle and long net - in fact, I’ve tied a knot in the end of the net, as it was cumbersome.
Now our girl knows the routine - I come out to put them away and she goes right into the open coop, I gently place the net over her, pull her toward me, and pick her up. No more horrible squawking! (In case this is confusing, I have to bring both of the bantams inside to spend the night in a large dog crate, as they are still learning to get along with the bigger girls.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Takes care of eliminating birds with a breeze
Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2024
So usually once a year it seems for the past three years a bird will find its way down my chimney. Most recent case was Tuesday this week as my wife and mother-in-law were shocked to discover another bird came by for a visit. I wanted something that was cost effective, safe, and could quickly get the job done. I came across this baby on Amazon by luck. This was the only item that was available to be delivered to my door the very next day if I ordered within a certain time limit. Got the item today. Assembly was easy as I was ready within seconds. I was able to safely remove the bird from my chimney and back to the great outdoors within 3 minutes tops! Highly recommend as it has nice length and the material is very strong. Most importantly you feel safe as you're trying to secure and release.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lightweight but likely to break. Net cheaply made with relatively large holes.
Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2024
I got this net for catching bees as part of the state bee atlas. I like that it is lightweight overall, which would be nice for using out in the field all day. The ring itself is configured in three pieces that bend at the joints, probably with the goal of making it easier to get the net on and off. I would prefer a solid ring like Bioequip nets. This ring is likely to break and indeed I had a similar one that broke in the field. I like being able to extend the handle, but to do so you have tighten/losen rings on the handle. I wish these were clamps which we would be faster, more secure, and less likely to losen while in use. Same with how the ring attaches to the handle - it is screwed on which makes possible to come lose during use. An improvement on this version over another model is the screw onto which you screw the handle onto is fixed in position. In another version it wasn't and it made it nearly impossible to really tighten.

Now to the net. It is cheaply and poorly sewn, although the main net mesh itself seems sturdy. There is overhanging/extra fabric on all the seems, which means when the seems are on the inside, insects can get stuck/hide between the seem and the wall of the net. The length of the net is great - long enough to easily flip over the net ring to capture the insects. The mesh hole size is too large for my use. Many of the small bees I target could easily fit through the holes. If you are only targeting larger insects, it should be fine.

Pros: lightweight, collapsible, good net length
Cons: size of net holes, poor net sewing, probably easy to break (especially the net ring) if not careful.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the Price
Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2024
This net did not hold up for even the first Monarch Migration season. The frame of the net bent in multiple spots and when attempting to fix it, it completely snapped altogether. The net has also been fraying since we took it out of the package. I will not purchase from this company again!
