About this item

"Some books feel personal when you read them, like you can tell the writer poured extra in. That's this story. I dreamed about it all night. What an unforgettable journey." — Kim Holden, Bestselling Author of Bright Side

When grumpy, muscled-up artist Bennett Bishop bothers to speak, it’s usually to say something you’re not ready to hear.

When he first speaks to Norah Ellis, a rambling runaway bride who hitchhikes a ride from him, it’s to tell her to get out of his truck and walk because she’s a pain in the a-s-s.

By appearance, Norah Ellis is a fancy fashionista who’s spent the last several years living the good life in the city—expensive apartments, highbrow events, and a fiancé with wealth and good looks. The only problem is that she didn’t choose any of it for herself.

On the day of her July wedding, thanks to a letter from a stranger, Norah’s world turns upside down. She runs for the hills of Vermont to start a new life, but what’s waiting for her, between her estranged sister, the townspeople, and bad-boy Bennett Bishop himself, is way more than she bargained for.

Enemies turn to lovers, strangers become friends, dark secrets bust open like cans of worms, and most of all…Summer will never be the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautifully emotional read that is a top read for me!!

How do you describe one of the most emotional filled story that had me drowning in tears but also wishing there was more once I read the end. Max Monroe this dynamic duo brought to life a grumpy single dad who rescues who he thinks is a pampered princess but is so not like that. But I was hooked lined and sinker from the very beginning.

Norah flees New York with only her besties suitcase full of clothes wishing on a hope and prayer that her sister welcomes her into her home. What she didn't anticipate her phone dying and being stranded not knowing how to get to her sisters house. Bennett is just trying to help his friend out, but when he runs into a designer wearing lost woman in the middle of the street he has no choice but to help her out. These two had a hate/love relationship from the very beginning that quickly changed with each page. These two were full of witty banter that had me wondering whether they were going to kiss one minute or have another screaming match.

The character that stole my heart was little Summer and her heart shaped sunglasses. I think I went through two boxes of tissues reading through this book. I love this little girl because with everything she had going against her she still tried to stay positive. Bennett's reason for living is his daughter Summer and he will do anything to see a smile on her face to hear her laugh. What these two needed was Norah to join their little family.

I don't know how else to say this but read this book. It's one of my top reads for this year that I still keep thinking about a week later. I'm ready for more from these two authors!!

This was an amazing book. I knew nothing about it except the fact that I noticed that there were adorable pink heart sunglasses on the cover. And I thought that maybe it was some really cute summer or beachy read. But I guess it WAS in fact a Summer read.

SO Norah is playing runaway Bride the day of her wedding. And we as the readers don't know the exact reason, but we do know that it's HUGE. She runs away from NYC to Vermont to the doorstep of her sister who she hasn't spoken to in about 15 years. On the way she meets grumpy hottie Ben. And from there The story goes....

This book made me feel all the emotions. Anxiety when poor Norah was running from her wedding all alone traveling all alone to a town that she hadn't been to in years to visit his sister that she didn't have a good relationship with. The silliness of her not being able to not ramble when she meets Bennett, the silliness of her trying to make coffee and failing at the coffee shop. The off the charts chemistry between her and Bennett and how she can't keep from slapping AND kissing him. And then the story takes a devastating turn and truths are told and secrets are found out and it is everything that you want in a story. Maybe one too many tears for me but it was so worth it. And like it says in the book you go through the bad times but after you go through the bad times then you get the good and that's exactly what this book was about.

Highly recommend

This is a good heart felt book and nice story it is a different type of book when I think of a max Monroe book. With all the sadness and upheaval in the world I look forward to escaping in one of your ROM coms where I can laugh and laugh and get into a much better mood. The books I can't put down. This book is very well written just not what I was expecting from the authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars BY FAR…..the best book I’ve EVER read.

This is going to be a LENGTHY review, but I promise no spoilers!
10/10 stars left me in so many tears and emotions I never would have thought would be possible.

I started this book at 11pm central time April 18th and as I lay here at 5:30am on Friday April 19, 2024 I read this book from start to finish all night. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. This wasn’t the normal Max Monroe book I’m used to. It was so much more. Normally when I think Max Monroe I think super erotic with lots of graphic images put into my head about the characters but this book tugged at my heart strings in so many ways. At one point I had to physically compose myself because although I’ve shed some tears reading books in the past, this had me wiping snotty tears away for a good 45 minutes straight.

While reading, I did notice 2 typos. So from the grammar aspect I’m giving 9.9/10 stars. It’s almost impossible to have zero but the fact that I only noticed 2, means impeccable proofreading and editorial skills.

I will ABSOLUTELY be buying the hard copy of this book and cherishing it forever. I’m a sucker for meet-cutes but THIS book literally has changed my life in ways I never thought it could. As a mom myself, the way this book tugged at my heart strings for Norah and Bennett made staying up all night to finish this book so worth it, even though my 8 year old son will be awake in two hours looking at me wide eyed like I’m insane for staying up all night to read it. He will understand. I can already smell a fresh pot of coffee calling my name. At least I won’t ruin a cup of black coffee.
