5.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says!

I kept on pining for my vintage Braun immersion blender that was so old it didn’t have safety prongs for the plug in. It was lost in a move and I complained about it for seven years, and tried to buy a replacement that failed. It was fancy branded, expensive, heavy, awkward and bulky to use.

I finally decided to take the plunge and try another immersion blender. For my purposes (puréed soup) it is hands down the BEST immersion blender I’ve ever used. It knocked the Braun off the shelf. I made a potato soup base (potatoes and onion simmered in stock and water) with added milk, crisp-tender broccoli, and grated cheese. As opposed to the awkward blender dance, I was able to purée the soup in the soup pot (took about 3 minutes for a quart and a half) and it was so smooth and creamy! the texture was unbelievable as well as the ease of use. Simple toggle switch for speed 1 or 2. Love the detachable base for storage, cleaning, safety. Love it, love the value, price, and effectiveness. A winner in the kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Parts of this mixer are of very good quality

My one question is how do you make this "huge mixer" for only 13 dollars sale price. It has a full stainless steel mixer that is attached to a huge motor. Read the reviews on what people have mixed. Most of the reviews are believable. 300 watts is not heavy duty but it is in the middle range.

Their is a bit of cheapness along with guality. The gears are plastic but are recessed together far enough so they will not slip. The rotating blade appears to be stainless steel but it is not a sharpen blade. One person gave a negative review about the mixer assembly coming out. You do need to turn the locking nut far enough to a tighten position so the blade will not come out.

Only time will tell how long it will last but for 13 dollars, it doesn't take long to make your money back. It appears that it is sturdy enough to last a few years or more. I mixed a smoothee powder in a 24 ounce cup and it was fast and flawless. Cleaning was very easy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Too Hot to Handle: A Spicy Soup Encounter with an Immersion Blender

When I ordered the "Ovente Electric Immersion Hand Blender," it was mainly due to an excess of tomatoes in my home. I thought making homemade tomato soup would be the best solution. I had never used an immersion blender before, so I was learning as I went along, as you can see in the attached video. My main goal was to turn the tomatoes, well seasoned in dry spicy ranch seasoning and sitting in their own juices for nearly 48 hours, into a smooth velvety soup.

To my surprise, the blender did its job, although it required more effort than I expected. I had hoped that the softened tomatoes would easily blend, considering they had been covered in a seasoning that is salt based, but it seemed the blender struggled more than I had imagined it would. Despite this, I was pleasantly surprised with the smoothness of the final product. The immersion blender did transform the tomatoes into a lovely soup, but the process made me question its ability to handle tougher vegetables like carrots. You could easily crush a tomato with your hands into soup with minimal effort. This blender made it seem like I was giving it too much of a workload initially.

While the price point of the blender is very reasonable, I found several faults with it. These are the reasons I can't give it a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. The first was its inability to stand upright. This product's design causes it to tilt at an angle when standing, which could potentially pose a safety risk, especially considering it houses a sharp, high-speed blade. There is nothing stopping it from turning on even when the product is facing upwards. I feel like that's an oversight in the product design considering that a tilt sensor could have been used to always make sure it's always facing down before being turned on.

Another significant issue was the heat generated by the blender. After only 5 minutes of blending the tomatoes, the plastic shell of the blender reached 135F, and even after unplugging and waiting for 10 minutes, it was still at 124F. This heat could potentially cause burns if not handled carefully, and it also makes me question the longevity of the product, considering the strain that such high heat could put on a small motor.

I also noticed that the tomato skins tended to get stuck in the blender's sides. If the holes in the sides are meant for the puree/liquid/soup to flow through, these holes getting clogged with could be counterproductive and pose a safety risk if you are meant to clear them manually.

Despite these flaws, I do believe the "Ovente Electric Immersion Hand Blender" offers good value for its price point. Its performance, considering the cost, was satisfactory, and while I do not expect it to last for years, I think it would pay for itself even with a few uses. However, it's important to note the potential safety risks due to the high heat it generates and the inability to stand upright on its own.

So, would I recommend this blender? Yes, but with reservations. If you are careful, mindful of the safety risks, and don't expect a long-lasting product, this blender could be a useful addition to your kitchen.

This stick blender is so awesome. Of course it’s easy to be skeptical straying away from “name brand” appliances, but this one truly is amazing! It works super well, it’s sturdy, powerful and i really love the attachments— i have used them all! I even got rid of my regular chopper and only use this one now.
