"You didn't really think you'd get a happily-ever-after, did you?"
Cian is terrifying me.
The Irish killer stole me on my wedding day.
And now, he's revealing secrets that threaten to burn everything—and everyone—I love to ashes.

I need to get back to Dmitri.
He's the only one who can keep our unborn child safe.

But escaping Cian is just the beginning...
Because Dmitri has secrets of his own.
Starting with the unseen houseguest upstairs...
And ending with the hideous truth about what really happened to my sister.

This is second book following a CH from the previous book ending from this author, "Tangled Innocence". There are so many developments taking place at the same time between the H and h, but Ms Fox handled it all with a depth of skill that took me on a emotional ride and made me question how it was EVER going to be possible to tie it all up and still soothe the hurt caused by these realistically broken characters living a life of brutality and violence. The baby, which was the initial catch, turns out isn't the most poignant piece of the story for me, it was the horrifying murder of Wrens sister, Rose that drove things forward until we're again made aware of just how human we are and why we are so blind to the motives of those we love. The resolution is heartbreaking.

I'm not usually a Mafia romance book type of girl, as the potential for escaping the activities involved in that lifestyle are minimal and almost impossible for made men. This plot line however, hooked me in and made me give it a chance. I just didn't think it was good, it was genuinely excellent! Ms Fox worked around the ugly with savvy and kept my attention focused on Wren, Dmitri their love story and her friends that became loyal to her, wrapping up these books in a grimy, efficient and comforting ending leaving no room for the past.
I can't do this book enough justice!

This was book 2 in the "Egorov Bratva" duet. This book picked up where book 1 left off. This book had a lot of secrets in it which led to a lot of twist and turns the most shocking on to me was her sister. This book also had a lot of action in it. I love reading a good mafia story. This book was well written with no errors in the grammar or spelling.

I loved the HEA for all concerned in this story.
I loved Cian's redemption, Vittorio's comeuppance, and Bee's vengeance.
A great story, with plenty of Easter Eggs unravelled at the end.

It was a good ending. I could guess what some of the "twists'' were but it was still good. I ended up liking Wren more in this one than the last.
