The instant #1 New York Times Bestselling Series
Glitter Magazine’s #1 Pick for Best YA of 2020
Optioned for Film by Universal

My whole world changed when I stepped inside the academy. Nothing is right about this place or the other students in it. Here I am, a mere mortal among gods…or monsters. I still can’t decide which of these warring factions I belong to, if I belong at all. I only know the one thing that unites them is their hatred of me.

Then there’s Jaxon Vega. A vampire with deadly secrets who hasn’t felt anything for a hundred years. But there’s something about him that calls to me, something broken in him that somehow fits with what’s broken in me.
Which could spell death for us all.

Because Jaxon walled himself off for a reason. And now someone wants to wake a sleeping monster, and I’m wondering if I was brought here intentionally—as the bait.

My thoughts:

Can I just say wow! I have finally found my book! You know that book that ends up being your auto-recommend that you can’t stop taking about or that book that you feel like was written just for you to read because it is the book you have been searching for your entire life well, yeah that is Crave for me. It is going to be the book that any of my #bookstagram friends sees and thinks of me! I am a slow reader lets just get that out of the way, but when I sat down to read a few more chapters the other day I ended up not being able to put it down and read over 400 of the 571 pages in one night!

Tracy Wolff does the vampire comeback right! Who doesn’t love a boarding school in Alaska where all things that go bump in the night are hidden in plain sight. And what’s even better is the the ever so slightly oblivious (at first) niece of the headmaster. Grace knows something is up pretty much from her first day at the school, but is naive enough to chalk it up to aliens, at least until she has undeniable proof of either a really sick prank or another species entirely!

And can we just talk for a moment about my favorite side character Mekhi! First off I love that name and secondly I need more of him in book two! I am so glad that the release date for “Crush” has been moved up to September, I may have a countdown on my phone as I am eagerly awaiting to read more of Grace and Jaxon’s story and let’s be really I need more Mekhi too!

I’m also pretty sure that her favorite word is swoon, but this book is definitely swoon worthy! It hits all the feels perfectly. And from the bad dad jokes to quoting lines form one of my favorite movies and Grace and Macy watching one my my favorite TV shows there is all too much to love inside the adventure land that is Crave and Katmere Academy. I am pretty sure I could sit here and talk about Crave for hours upon hours it is just that freaking good! So what are you waiting for go a get your copy and read the book now.

Memorable quotes:

“I want him to look at me like it physically hurts him not to be touching me.” -Macy

“They’re waiting for me to either sit down or leave, Grace. Once one of those things happens, they’ll come in.” -Jaxon

More, he makes me feel not so alone at a time when I’ve never been lonelier. -Grace

“I am freaking out! Jaxon’s freaking out. We’re all freaking out.” -Mekhi

“Believe me, I won’t.” Mekhi grins, “The last thing I’m interested in doing is getting in the middle of that argument. Besides, it might be time someone takes my boy down a peg or two.” -Mekhi

And just like that, my breath catches in my throat again. Because if I’ve learned nothing else in the time I’ve been here, it’s that Jaxon Vega kneels for no one. Yet here he is, kneeling in front of me like it’s the most natural thing in the world. -Grace

4.0 out of 5 stars Kinda like Twilight, but not...

This book reminded me a lot of Twilight, but it definitely had a unique plot.

Grace is a normal teenage girl who moves to a new school after her parents die in a car accident. Even through her grief, her inner dialogue is hilarious. It's the typical new girl falls for the hottest/most popular guy at school, Jaxon. He's the grump to her sunshine. He warns her away, but they can't stay away from each other. For a YA series, it kept me entertained and I'm interested to see where this one goes. Starting the next book in the series, Crush, right now!

If you liked twilight but always wanted Bella to be more of a baddie, this is the book for you. Grace isn’t going to take any crap and I love that she is so empowered even if she hilariously outnumbered. Can’t wait to read Crush

5.0 out of 5 stars Action-Packed Paranormal Fiction
Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2021
This story I grabbed as I have been interested in it for a while, and I want to see if it was as good as the hype.

Grace is on the brink of an epic adventure out in the far reaches of Alaska. The author adds in some fantastic dialogue that makes you chuckle. The author has creative chapter titles for her book. It is interesting. So Grace has moved to this academy with some of her family due to her parents passing. The guy she meets is obviously the first clue that this book is paranormal in nature, and Grace might just be a mere human she might not be, but does she know. He comes with a wired warning after his jerk face intro. Jaxson is a force so far, and when he comes to her rescue, he definitely sets up my spidey senses. Flint is a pretty boy, and he seems sweet. Katnere academy, in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness, is a castle-like none other.

I love that the author included a popular Netflix show. I mean, why not? It might hold similarities to Grace's circumstances. But even at that, we still don't know precisely what is being hidden at the academy. Things heat up in the time span she is there, and not her curiosity is getting the best of her. I love the Twilight reference in this story, but the characters are still vague on the paranormal in this school.

Grace is an absolute mess, but she does seem to migrate to danger. People are starting to show their true colors, including Jaxson and Macy. But I still don't know what paranormals are in this story. I feel bad for Grace as she seems to get stuck in Jaxsons hot and cold flashes and, of course, team Jaxson and Team Flint.

Ahh, the paranormal world gets revealed finally, and this book contains all sorts of species. I won't reveal them all as I have the fun of reading this was figuring it out. Once you know, the first part of this book makes more sense. However, there is still a nagging question about why Jaxson commands so much respect?

Finally, we get to the real romance of this story, and oh, it is swoon-worthy! Jaxson is a force to be recommended when he finally makes up his mind.

This book gets even more intense and action-packed toward the end of it. Omg!! Just as I thought we were done with one crisis, the next one happens. I'm surprised by the turn of events. This book ends on a massive cliffhanger. I'm dying to read more.

Grace and Jaxson are magnetic in this book. Their romance rivals some of the great paranormal ones. I loved every minute of Grace's broken, stubborn, teenage self. Jaxson honestly came off as a jerk most of the time, but he was gentle with Grace. This book so didn't go the way I thought it would, and I loved the surprises in it. I like the themes in this story overcoming grief, fighting for love, protection. This was a very YA read no steam in this story. I can't wait to read for in this series. I want to know what happens to Jaxson and Grace.

I do like the exclusive look into Jaxson's point of view at the end of the book. This takes us back to the first day of school but from Jaxson and the order's point of view. So this seems to be but and pieces of his viewpoint with some of the more intense action scenes from the story.
