ALLLLLL THE STARS. ????????
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO ORGANIZE 26 LITTLE LETTERS INTO A REVIEW THAT SUMMARIZES WHAT THIS BOOK MAKES ME FEEL?
I honestly don't know, but here's my attempt:
This book is everything we love about Karla Sorensen books. It has the family, the football, and *alllllllllllllllllll* of the feelings. It has the found or made family, it has the real family, the football family, which in turn brings LOVE to the heart of this book in the most beautiful way possible. One and Only has all the things in the book world that I would want, should I one day be able to become a fictional character and enter a fictional universe, and the only thing that could have made this book more perfect would be a reference to "What would Paige Ward do?" because that's a slogan I find myself wondering pretty often.
Tropes: Single Dad, Opposites Attract, Fake Marriage, Slow Burn, Found Family
Beckett and Greer are opposites, but their chemistry is five alarm fire smoking hot/can't be missed. Even though this is a SLOW BURN (and you know I love my slow burns), Karla did an amazing job of turning up the heat between these two... these two kissed for their fake relationship and their fake wedding, but I still couldn't wait for the first *real* kiss... JUST KISS ALREADY PLEASE. But also, thank you for going slow because Beckett+intimacy=trust and that's also pretty hot and a whole lot more meaningful and it makes the wait WORTH IT.
The things I LOVED:
- the Wilder crew (obviously). There was just the right amount of time spent with the Wilder siblings, and I need Sheila and Tim in my life to be my guiding light. Their love is so inspirational, and I just love how they know each kid needs different things.
- BECKETT AND OLIVE. My goodness. If I wasn't already ready to make my spouse a dad, I would be experiencing an extreme case of baby fever. Beckett's commitment to his daughter is what *dream men* are made of. Seriously. He's so kind and protective and introverted (like me), so I feel like I connected a lot to him as a parent who wants to love their kid through all of life's challenges.
- GREER AND OLIVE. The way that Greer accepts Olive just as she is and wins her over by being herself is such a beautiful thing. Greer meets Olive where she's at, and then shows Olive that there's all these ways that she can be herself and learn and connect with the world around her (bonus points for Greer bringing the Wilder crew into Olive and Beckett's life - the Wilder chaos to the Coleman quiet is a beautiful thing to witness).
- Greer's relationship with her siblings. Although inconvenient at times (uhm, Poppy), Greer always has someone in her business, wanting to know what's going on, or giving her a hard time. I just have one sibling and it feels like Greer's family has more fun ;)
- Beckett and Josie. Talk about co-parenting relationship of the year. These two take such good care of Olive and navigate through co-parenting by modeling good communication and teamwork. Dare I say, some real marriages don't have the level of commitment to their children that these two do, and they also set an inspiring example.
- Random Taylor Swift lyric references... you know I love Taylor Swift. Thanks Karla! STAY STAY STAY.
- "I'm here to get my wife." <-- that's all :)
- The third act drama is super realistic and the time apart is...... perfect. No spoilers, just read the dang book :)
Other things I LOVED:
- FOOTBALL. Can we have some Portland Voyagers merch PLEASE?
- Clarence the cat
- THE MORNING COFFEE
- Greer picking up Olive from school and having a little *discussion* with her bully
- Greer and Olive drawing wildflowers in the backyard and painting her own garden
- Beckett, Greer, and Olive when Olive has a nightmare
- glimpses of Erik and Lydia and Adaline and Emmett (from The Plan and The Crush)
- hints as to what's to come for the Wilder siblings in the continuation of this series
I'm not joking when I say I wish I could give this book *ALL THE FREAKING STARS* but at least I can give it 5 stars. This book is everything I love about romance and then some.

About this item
You are cordially invited to my fake wedding.
Marrying Beckett Coleman is the best idea I've had in years. I can grant my sick dad’s wish to walk one of his daughters down the aisle, and Beckett has my help solving a custody situation with his daughter. Our plan is to spend a year together, then part ways. Easy, especially since I'm not his type, and he's not mine either.
He’s too quiet and too serious. And while he’s distractingly gorgeous, he’s also my brother’s teammate. Beckett is fake husband material, not the real deal. I just have to remember that.
Until I move in with him. Get to know him. Share a bed with him. Turns out, the line between fake and real isn't just blurry, it's almost impossible to uphold when he looks at me the way he does.
This marriage is a whole lot more complicated than we bargained for. We’re threatening to destroy everything we’ve built, something neither of us can risk.
Marrying Beckett might’ve been the best idea in years. But falling in love with him would be the worst.

Single dad, fake marriage sports romance
Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2024
Beckett and Greer's love story was a good read. This seemingly all-wrong-for-each-other couple was actually the perfect match. Their personalities complemented each other very well. The romance was a slow burn, but fitting for this couple because they struggled so hard against their chemistry and attraction for each other. Plus with Beckett being a measured, guarded, serious, deliberate type of person who weighed his words and actions carefully, the gradual buildup of the romance was fitting. It made the ultimate acknowledgement of the love between them very poignant. As others have mentioned, Olive, Beckett's young daughter, added sweetness and scope to the plot. She wasn't your usual outgoing child character who connected easily with strangers or new situations. Greer's heartwarming protectiveness toward Olive was realistic, as it meshed with her bold personality. I especially enjoyed how she confronted a schoolyard bully on Olive's behalf. I also especially enjoyed how Beckett staked his claim when his relationship with Greer came to a head. I'm looking forward to reading the stories of the other Wilder siblings.

I loved how the story kept me intrigued every minute. I haven”t been able to concentrate on a book for a while and this story was amazing. The characters were perfect and the family line was so real. I definitely will read this author again and hope that the story line can s as good as this one.

One and Only is Book 1 of the Wilder Family series by Karla Sorensen. What happens when you find out your dad’s greatest wish before he dies is to walk one of his girls down the aisle? You go on a mission to hire a husband. What happens when your ex has reservations about leaving your daughter with you while she moves overseas with her new husban? Not only do you meet with a team mates older sister to design you daughter the bedroom of her dreams, you also over hear her fake marriage idea. Greer and Beckett are complete opposites that you could cut the tension in this book with a knife. And the 3rd act drama is so realistic in this scenario that it’s mind boggling. I will be going back to add the previous siblings stories into my TBR and keeping up with the rest of the Wilder siblings as they release!

Slow burn...maybe a little too slow?

It was good to visit the Wilder family again, this time focusing on Greer. Greer wants to get married so her dad can walk her down the aisle as he unfortunately has a recurrence of cancer and has opted not to treat it. Beckett meets Greer as a client for interior design but offers to marry her as he thinks it would help with his custody situation.
The thing about the custody issue is that its not a typical battle. Beckett gets along well with his daughter Olive's mom, Josie. They have an amicable co-parenting relationship without having to involve court. Josie is supposed to go to London with her new husband for a year but doesn't feel comfortable leaving Olive with Beckett that long. Beckett has the money for a nanny (and supposedly has one although she's never seen in the book) but somehow having a wife makes Josie more comfortable with the idea. I don't like that everything was basically Josie's call. I understand trying to get along and not wanting to involve lawyers and court, but it just didn't feel like Beckett ever really fought for more time with his daughter. And if Josie decided to take Olive to London or to stay behind with her, that was the final decision and Beckett didn't have much say about where his daughter went.
Anyway, it was a super slow burn with Beckett spending the majority of the book resisting Greer. There wasn't much action until the end.
