5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT VALUE!! FUN & Chock Full of Features

This little keyboard is SO MUCH FUN!! I own an 88-key digital piano which is much more expensive but I never play it!! For the price, can't believe all you get with this fun starter pack!! I bought the red one for fun and it's light, portable, VERY easy to use, and for the price the sounds are unbelievable!! Shout out to the reviewer who recommended this over the RockJam -- ABSOLUTELY worth the additional $$ -- and would also be an AWESOME starter pack for any beginner. Great songwriter's companion & FUN!! I'm becoming a Casio convert!!

I have been involved in professional music production for years, but recently wanted to get serious about learning how to play piano. I selected an app (I am using SimplyPiano) that I thought would be helpful, then set about looking for an appropriate keyboard. I will also be using this to input scores into PreSonus Studio One via MIDI, so obviously a MIDI output was essential. As great as this is, I also have young kids, so I know my time is limited. That said, I didn't want to spend too much on this setup in case my plans just didn't work out. This keyboard fit the bill very nicely for me. I understood what I was getting...this is a $100-and-change unit, not a Nord Stage 3. The sounds aren't winning any awards, but they aren't terrible either, and some are very playable. There should be plenty of decent variety to suit your needs. The keys don't feel "cheap" and play well. Again, they aren't weighted or anything like that, but perfectly fine for my purposes. The biggest two issues I see are this: the internal speaker quality and the MIDI port, as others have noted. When playing some of the bass patches, you literally can't hear the lowest notes at all. I solved this issues easily by using headphones and/or plugging into an external speaker (in my case, a mixer/amp/floor monitor setup, but any decent external powered speaker would do). Once I did that, the sound quality was actually pretty darn good. The other issue was the micro-USB port for the MIDI output. I could see what others are saying...it's not the most "robust" connection. I've seen this type of thing on other equipment before and there was a very simple solution for me - I plugged in my cable, made a stress loop and taped it off with a piece of gaffers tape - problem solved. Granted, I will be unplugging that cable very infrequently, so this works in my situation. Barring that as an option, I would just be careful and gentle with it, and you should be fine with reasonable use. All said - this is a very good option for anyone looking to start out, especially for kids just getting into lessons, or anyone in need of a very portable unit. It was 100% plug-and-play into my iPad for SimplyPiano to recognize it for MIDI input. It also work with absolutely no issues as MIDI input on my Windows 10 PC. $120 well spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and basic, but well worth the price!

This is a great basic keyboard! I'm learning piano, so its nice to not have to invest a ton of money to start. This basic has everything I need to learn. Plenty of sound options, good weight and feel. Overall a solid start to a lifelong process in learning.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing but bad experience with seller

The keyboard was big and sounded great, seemed great for the money, I bought this then thought I would wait another month so I cancelled it very soon after ordering it, so it attempted to cancel but it never cancelled so I got the keyboard which I know seller had enough time to cancel it if they wanted to but they didn't which is a horrible other than that the keyboard is great, the stand is meh and the headphones are not that great.

We wanted a small keyboard for our 4 young children to learn and practice on, this one is perfect. It seems like good quality for the price. It has plenty of songs and tones. We're very happy with it. And of course the kids love it, they play on it every day!

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid choice

This is a solid choice for a starter keyboard and has lots of functionality. The keys have a great feel when playing too. I just wish it came with a dust cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compared to Rockjam's keyboard kit...
Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2020
I bought a keyboard learning kit from Rockjam last month and when it finally arrived, it was broken in several different ways- and it sounded horribly tinny and electronic. I took a chance on a Casiotone for just $30ish more and the difference is unbelievable. This has beautiful sound, a nice, solid, easy setup adjustable stand and headphones that actually sound good. I haven't used the software because I am using an online video course called Gospel-on-the-Go. This came with a headphone jack adapter so the headphones can be used in devices with a bigger jack port if you wanted to use them with something else. Also, it came with a nice, detachable sheet music stand that inserts into the carry handle.
The keys feel nice and have a good weight and responsiveness that doesn't feel like cheap plastic (another thing about the Rockjam set that I was disappointed in). There are plenty of features and the metronome is really great too.
I learned from the first keyboard experience that even kids deserve a keyboard that sounds like a piano. How will they learn to play if they don't know what it's actually supposed to sound like? My daughter wasn't interested in the Rockjam because the sound was so unpleasant, but she played this Casiotone all evening. That's the closer for me.
Do yourself a favor and buy this one over the Rockjam. You'll be glad you did.
