Blood of Hercules (Villains of Lore Book 1)Top reviews from the United States
- Aaron dooleyAMAZING. I already want to read it again and I just finished it.This book, had me loling like constantly. The plot was so well written, the main character is so down to earth, her bestie is freaking hilarious, and the romance is deadly addicting. Banter + slow burn + no one can touch her she’s mine = a really good time. Will recommend to all of my romantasy book girlies.
- KatherinGuilty PleasureGo in knowing this book is suppose to be fun and comical, while also introducing some darker themes and a tiny flicker of spice (in the first book*). This is not a book that will be considered revolutionary and an epic. This is for the readers that want a guilty little pleasure between those types of books.
Writing - pretty much mediocre, BUT it made me laugh a lot.
Plot - Pretty good actually.
Greek Mythology - loose actual correlation to the true mythology, but very entertaining and magical.
Tropes - Bully, Enemies to Lovers, Opposites Attract, and more but I fear it would give away too much.
Spice - 1/2 chili pepper for the first book. It gets spicier as the series progresses.
I ate this book up; and the second one is even better! I honestly feel this is my guilty pleasure read and can't wait for the third book. - Literary LureGods, monsters, and a hero forged in darkness.???? Blood of Hercules by Jasmine Mas
Rating: 4.75/5
Mythology meets post-apocalypse with a dark twist that grabs you by the throat. This reimagining of Hercules through Alexis Hert's journey from abused orphan to powerful player in a world of gods and monsters is brutally captivating. Mas weaves political intrigue, sexual tension, and complex character dynamics into a story that kept me reading until dawn.
Alexis's perseverance against relentless trauma defines this narrative. Her evolution through the Spartan War Academy's brutal trials showcases her fierce survivor spirit while navigating manipulation from professors Kharon and Augustus. The forced betrothal plot twist left me desperate for book two.
"The devil has a pretty face, and humanity is going to hell for worshipping it."
The character dynamics are electric—especially between Alexis and her mentors-turned-love-interests. Nyx, the snarky purple echidna only Alexis can see, provides perfectly timed comic relief that had me laughing out loud amid the darkness.

???? Final Thoughts
For fans of dark mythology retellings with multiple love interests and raw intensity, this book delivers. Thank goodness I waited until book two was available—the cliffhanger would've been unbearable. - Lisa from OregonIncredible, mind is blownGahhwwd!!! This was the best book ever. I needed this. It felt a lot like the TV show, The Boys, but make it a bully romance with gods. And I ate it all up. What an incredibly well written and phenomenal book.
I'm a sucker for bully romance, and while we didn’t get through a lot of the story yet, it gave me everything I love about the genre.
And like all Jasmine Mas writes, this was hilarious. I laughed out loud as much as Zodiac Academy. This is much more twisted, and the humor is darker, but I loved it.
If you liked both, The Boys and ZA, you're in for a treat.
I think the internal dialogue was the best part of the story. The FMC has a lot of character. Actually, everyone in the story was well written. They all had their own brand of crazy that worked well for the story. Even her "pet" throughout had such funny lines and brought a lot.
I'll definitely add to my bookshelf and read again and again. I can't wait for the next one.
The plot and worldbuilding were also incredible elements to the story and I loved the quick pace and the trials kind of thrown in. You also get a tiny bit of academia vibes.
Big Hit. 1000% recommend to other bully romance fans.
Also not spicy, really in this book, but I could see it leading to it. There's maybe 1 pepper worth in this one. If you're looking for immediate spice, this isn't that. This first book focuses on character and plot more than romance/spice.
