We've gotten cameras specifically for kids in this price point before and been disappointed with the quality, but this one, while not marketed specifically for children, is actually pretty good for an elementary age kid. The controls were easy enough for her to use, and the wrist strap kept it from getting dropped and broken. (She did drop it several times, the strap saved it!).
Photo quality is fine/ok, not great, but better than a disposable film camera or the vtech kids cameras. It has one depth of field where things look pretty good- about 3 feet away. Anything farther or using the zoom gets noticibly grainy quickly. That's my adult self being spoiled by quality iPhone cameras though- my kid was delighted with her shots and was really proud of all the images she was able to capture.
I think the photos look better once we transferred them to my computer than they did on the screen- took off a star for the quality of the display which is hard to see in bright sunlight and has a lower resolution than the final image.
