  • Customer Service still exists and these went above and beyond what they needed too.
Customer service still exists and I'm happy about it.

So, I have a NAS, I wanted to replace the case, I went for this option based on space, size (inside, not outside) and price. I get the case, nice and heavy, very study, but wait, the motherboard connector for the case, doesn't match my old (didn't want to turn into e-waste) motherboard, I was able to position the connector to let me get the motherboard to power up with the button, but the other items, HDD light, Reset button, etc, were not aligned.

So, I emailed them, now, I have some breadboard jumper wires from an old 'lets make a remote fan controller for my P40 GPU' (which did work, so I'm not that scared of trying things out) and I asked.

"Hey, can you provide me with the pin-out of your connector, so I don't have to open the front of the case and trace the wires"

I was just going to connect a male/female breadboard pin from each hole to the motherboard, simple solution, right.

Well, they went one further, they arranged for an adapter to plug into their connector to give me pin outs, they stated they went to get it custom made, and they followed up, when they had them, asked me for my full address, and shipped it to me.

When it comes to ease of use, it would only go in one way, and it was just the right size to give me enough wiggle room for my chunky fingers and those little tiny pins, so I didn't need to remove the whole motherboard to reconnect, etc So the ease of assembly, well, there wasn't anything easier. The part was nice and sturdy, didn't come across flimsy and just chucked together.

Now, if they already had them from the more expensive model, and they told me what they did just justify sending me one, I really don't care, they went above and beyond to keep a customer happy.

    Thanks Rosewill
  • Excellent for use as NAS, can house many hard drives! Nice fans too.
Bought to use as a NAS (network attached storage) server. Already installed several drives and it works pretty well for that. You can place two drives in each drive cage, and there are 5 drive cages. Also room for SSDs on the back side of the case too. The drives need to be screwed into the drive cages, but not a big deal since drives tend to last for years so there is no need to move them around too often.

The case looks good and the materials/build are nice quality. Fans are PWM, work quietly and keep the drives below about 32 degrees celsius in an upstairs office. The case has cutouts with mesh dust filter on the top and cutouts for airflow on both sides of the case. Right side of case has cutouts for the hard drives, and left side has cutouts for hard drives as well as motherboard/CPU area. This helps with air flow, but the noise is also not too loud. I have the fans set to a normal fan curve in the BIOS so they ramp up as needed in case CPU heats up. Did overnight burn-in test and temperatures didn’t spike.

I wish the back panel had more space for cable storage/management, as after placing several hard drives in the case there are SATA cables and power cables galore that need to be stowed. I had to place the case on its side to lay the right (back) panel on to get it to lock and secure. If I had done a much better job with cable management perhaps that wouldn’t have been as challenging. My most important requirement (drive storage) is satisfied so I will not let it bother me too much. The motherboard I used (Gigabyte ATX) has edge-mounted SATA ports that require SATA cables to be plugged in horizontally, from the right side (terrible design) on the right side of the motherboard, so I have very little room to plug in SATA cables and still route the cables through the cutout to the back of the case (to plug in the drives). Not the case’s fault but just something to be aware of. I had to buy some 90 degree right-angle SATA cables to clean up the cable routing and reduce the stress placed on the SATA port connections on the motherboard.

Like every case I’ve ever bought, the instructions that came with this one were very minimal. Took a bit of study to figure out how to remove the drive cages so I could install the drives, but the manual is OK. It would be better if it had more details and instruction.

Overall very pleased with this case. The only bummer is it went on sale for $10 less about a week after I bought it! I missed that sale but I do think it’s still worth the price I paid. With everything placed in the case it looks very good, sounds quiet and I am confident it will last for years.
  • Great bang for the buck.
Just built a new NAS using this case, for the price I think they did a great job, semi cheap feeling in some areas but overall functions great and roomy. I am using all 8 hot swap bays in truenas with a LSI 9300i HBA and no issues. Would love the same case in a rack mount version around this price point though.
  • THOR NAS Pro - Great utilitarian NAS and Server System
This review is for the THOR NAS Pro. Super great tower NAS solution especially when it's on sale. I got it for under $200 and I'm very, very pleased with the value. Keep in mind this is not going to be blinged out case but serves a great utilitarian case for mass and hot swappable data storage. I don't review any purchases but this one I had to add my thoughts
  • Bad Tolerances, Good Case Design
You definitely get what you pay for and I didn’t pay for much. The case itself is nice, the layout is good and it holds a lot of drives. The airflow is also quite good. However, the metal the case is made of is quite thin and flexes when I put mild pressure on it, the screw holes were often off by a few millimeters for the drive cages, and the finish on the case’s metal scratches off easily.

But it can hold 10 hard drives, which is what I needed it for. I wouldn’t recommend it as a personal PC case but it works well if you don’t want to shell out for JBOD enclosures.
  • Solid overall, with lots of cooling and drive space. Minor alignment issues with some drive bays.
Super spacious, with lots of drive bays, which is what I was looking for. On the downside, it appears that one or more of the drive bays are impossible to fill and attach cables, due to the way the SATA and power plugs line up with the lip of the drive bay. Despite these potential issues, there is plenty of space overall, with lots of cooling fans and filtering, so I'm happy with it. It's not the most attractive case, but very utilitarian as a home server that needs lots of storage and good airflow.
  • Excellent for NAS.
Loads of drive bays, excellent ventilation and lots of room to route cables. Does it make for a sexy gaming rig? No. But it's perfect to stuff full of hdds and stick in a closet.
