- Christine H.A handy tool for those with pets!I love this machine so much. I bought it to replace an old Bissell which had begun leaking again. I was tired of it leaking despite repairing it over and over.
Pros: The Shark is quieter, yet it cleans with a lot of power. It sucked up a pet mess effortlessly. I love the pet mess tool because it keeps the gross water in a small container rather than pulling it through the entire machine. This alone is a game changer. The tools all come apart and they are so easy to clean. It’s easy to move around as it’s light and portable.
Cons: the power cord isn’t as long as the Bissell, e.g. I can’t clean my entire staircase without unplugging and plugging in downstairs for the other half. There is no “on-board” storage for tools. I’m afraid I’m going to lose the little brush part for the small mess tool as there’s no good place to store it.
Overall I’m happy with this purchase and I’d recommend this over the Bissell which seems to have declined in quality over the years. - JST2FSTMega Machine up for the challenge!Worked first time out. I am impressed by this little guy honestly! The instructions are pretty straight forward, just make sure you are filing the right tank up with solution. I messed up and was going to put the diluted shampoo into the extraction tank because I wasn't paying attention to exact wording in the instructions. But once I got it all set up I had several spots around the house from owning 2 indoor dogs. I tackled the big job first, my dog puked the night before and wasn't feeling well. So I had a couple spots from that and as in the pictures you can see that it all came up. Now full disclosure I did spray the area with a name brand stain remover and let it set before using this spot vacuum. But it all came up and I was impressed with how much 'dirt' and debris came up. The suction on this thing is great for my purposes and I did not have any water leaks. The spray is wide so it covers great on small areas (which this is intended for). I did use warm water in the water tank with the solution but nothing I would consider HOT at all. There is no heater on this unit. For the money I think this is a great value, I love the self cleaning feature, makes clean up a snap. Just empty the debris tank and rinse out then your ready for the next go. I did get mine on sale for about a Benjamin so look for sales. I will be keeping this unit and using it from time to time on doggy issues around the house. I have a carpet machine for any real big issues or just to spring clean the carpets already.
- A. P.This is the one!! Great for pet ownersWhen opened the box, initially I was overwhelmed and intimidated. However, after reading the manual, it was very simple to use. I ended up cleaning more than I had planned. I did my sectional, recliner/rocker and dining room chairs. It works really really well! It picks up dirt and pet hair with powerful extract suction and I like that you can actually see what’s coming up. The sprayer puts out a good amount. You can’t really see it but I put my hand under the sprayer to feel exactly how much was coming out and it provides good coverage. I didn’t have any leakage issues. The included solutions work well for cleaning, odor eliminating and deodorizing. It’s very simple to clean the soiled water tank. Everything looks and smells fresh and new. This is awesome to use in between professional cleanings. I can get them less often now if I use this machine on a regular basis. I highly recommend!
- Mamabiscuit2threeBEST for Pets, and getting teens to help!This is amazing! The ONLY complaint I have about it is it would be extremely helpful to have a hose extension. I have a hard time, due to physical disability, to kneel and reach at the same time. I'm also disappointed that the 7" wide attachment is sold separately.
As far as cleaning? GAME CHANGER! With our aging pet having accidents, this is far superior to any of the "portable" carpet cleaners, as it's lightweight. With it being square, I was able to put mine on a planter thing with wheels. The pet mess tool is seriously awesome, and having the hair filter makes all the difference in the world!
Now, the best part .. ???? The self cleaning part....
If you have teenagers and want them to help more? This is the machine for you. The self-cleaning part? Makes the teenagers feel like they are doing less work. And since the machine works so well, it's done a lot quicker anyway. And since there is both the hair tool, as well as the hair filter in the dirty tank, you need not worry about having it clogged with hair and ruining your machine. There is even an access plug underneath, so you can clean out any clogs that may happen. (Which hasn't happened at all anyway ????)! My teenagers notoriously killed two machines already, by not vacuuming up the cat hair before shampooing the carpets ????????♀️. Teenagers like chores that are quick, and this does the trick! ???? And the fact that it then self-cleans, is it more of a bonus for them to do it. And for some reason the boys like to get technical about which part of the two-sided brushes to use for which mess ????! The best part is that they're actually doing it, and not ruining my machine in the process! - Angela MFINALLY, an innovative portable cleanerThis portable rug cleaner by Shark doesn't look all that innovative. Until you use it after you have used a competitor's model and fretted over all the problems with it, then you realize how many things were changed to make it easier to use.
1. The nozzle is so easy to clean. There is a place on the machine to press it down for self cleaning. The front of the nozzles pop off to sanitize the entire thing. No more using a toothpick or dental pick to unclog the nozzles!!
2. Flip over the scrubbing band to get one that doesn't allow fur to build up vs. carefully picking out fur that is stuck in the bristles.
3. Easy to rinse and clean dirty water tank. Cleaning the dirty tank is never pleasing, but this makes it easier.
The problems I see are.. a cord that should be longer. This will not work well on a flight of stairs. The other issue is the hose is not flexible enough to easily clean stairs. The small permanently attached nozzle is not detachable so it is not as easy to clean.
