I’ve seen this film more times than I can count, and it never stops being hilarious. Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer completely disappear into their characters, giving us one of the most quotable, endlessly rewatchable mockumentaries ever made. The dry, deadpan humor is perfect, and the “rockumentary” format makes it feel so authentic that you almost forget this band isn’t real.
The 4K restoration is incredible — everything looks crisp and detailed without losing that early-80s film texture. Criterion packed this release with extras, including interviews, commentary, and behind-the-scenes footage that give you a whole new appreciation for just how clever and ahead of its time this movie was.

- Stephen JGreat transfer on the 4K. Great movie.Fantastic transfer on the 4K. Movie looks great and no they didn’t get rid of the film grain - no AI I was used here. And of course the movie is hilarious and very rewatchable. I haven’t dived into the extras yet, so can’t comment on those yet.
