- Amazon CustomerReally good product.Works as described! Easy to use, good adhesion. Definitely stopped some cold air with our latest cold snap!
- Gordon FischerWorks as advertisedThis works great. Easy to install, followed directions , cleaned surface first and allowed to dry. Tape goes on easy and sticks firmly. Put this tape on the inside an exterior door, top, side that opens, and bottom. No draft anymore. I recommend this product for solving draft issues.
- Peter M. LloydIts Worth It.Effective at blocking drafts, this tape is simple to install and holds well. Although the sizing was slightly inaccurate because of my door, it still sealed about 95% of the drafts. There's a small amount of air seeping through the edges, but it's minimal. I would definitely recommend this product.
- CarlaGreat for tricky drafts!I’ve been in need of something to help with a slight draft in my bedroom window for years. Currently, I’m not in a position to buy a new window, but I am tired of my bedroom temperature either being warmer in the summer and colder in the winter than the rest of my house. I have tried different items throughout the years, and nothing has ever worked to help stop the small draft until now! I am very happy with my alien draft seal insulation tape, I have noticed a big difference within the week with the temperature in my bedroom since I have had it on my window. It sticks very well, and I was concerned about sticky residue, but I have had no issues. The value is great for the price and I was able to place it next to the window knobs and tricky spots without any issue, so functionality is great! High quality product, and I recommend it to those that may be in a similar situation. I didn’t place it on painted wood, just on the window panes themselves.
- LilyBGreat additionWorks great, it reduces draft. Easy to installed, looks good, not noticeable.
- POTU David, AuthorSolved a real problem with our Front DoorAll of these types of products are flawed. I went with this one because it had the overall best ratings, and in reviewing the 1-star ratings - it all boils down to adhesion issues, which could be related to various things.
This product's flexibility is oddly exceptional. If your seal isn't flexible enough, it won't work. This is like a perfect balance, and it appears (so far) to remain flexible. We haven't had the full 'cold' season yet, so I'll update this review. I'm 24 hrs into the installation, and it normalized the temperatures in my apartment.
It doesn't adhere so well that it would strip off paint. (one of the catch-22s).
I cleaned the surface around my metal door with alcohol (70%) as surface prep. If I owned this property, I would have primed the edge with a 'bonding primer', which would solve most of the adhesion issues I read about. Diana, my partner, talked me out of doing that. (laugh) The gaps in my door are ridiculous, and the managers didn't follow through with replacing/fixing the door in the spring, even after a reminder. It's 2023, and our world is what it is.
It mounted easily and I think it will hold just fine. I decided to use blue-painter's tape (the Dollar Store variety), to add additional support/adhesion. I think that will work fine for the winter, and easily removable when we leave this apartment complex. It is aesthetically weird, but this is about function for us. The tape itself is clear and almost invisible, so I think it would work fine without the added reinforcement, and if the adhesion were to become a problem, the quality of the material reflects I'd be able to use another level of adhesion. I suspect this seal would provide years of service.
If I had a wood door, or other type of material, looking at using some kind of primer that is appropriate for adhesion would be a consideration. Then again, if you have an expensive door, there should be a weather striping mechanism that makes this solution not needed.
Regardless, I wish I would have thought of (or found this) years ago. I am very pleased with it, and I am certain it will serve the purpose. It has already proved itself in the first 24 hours.
I would not have anticipated the level of impact it had on normalizing the temperatures/comfort in our living space. Not having this has probably cost us hundreds of dollars of heat/cooling expenses, not to mention the discomfort of dealing with a poorly sealed door situation.
Highly recommend this brand, I would buy it again (it is on my list). The package comes with more than enough for two standard types of doors. I only have one door, so, I'll be ready for the future!! - FTalmost greatbought this product to seal up around aluminum screen doors on my patio enclosure. The product comes well packaged and is easy to install. it also sticks very well to the aluminum. Unfortunately, because the silicone is so soft and pliable, that when you open the door, the part that covers the opening on the hinge side goes into the jamb and i have to manually pull it back out to so it will cover the opening again. wind will also blow the part over the door gap but, so far, it has not come off. If it was a little less pliable it would be perfect.
- meGreat product and worrks great for stopping the cold airWorks great.I had french doors that air came threw between the doors and we put this on and WOW no air and it sticks good.Really amazed.Great product.
