- craThe Mystery SmartHub Without User DocumentationI bought the Arlo Ultra SmartHub because I was led to believe the microSD memory would allow me to use my Essential XL cameras motion triggered events without a $19 monthly Arlo subscription. That is not true because without an Arlo subscription you are unable to set up and activate any of the motion triggered events. They are locked out in the Arlo app. This is Arlo’s way of forcing you to buy a subscription to fully activate all the features on your Arlo cameras. Otherwise Arlo cameras are nothing more than cameras that can be used to see real time video in the app. This is useless for home protection.
This misunderstanding could have been avoided if there was any meaningful documentation available for the Ultra SmartHub. My experience was there is very little, if any, online documentation available for the Ultra SmartHub. I was able to find a little info on a few YouTube videos, but it was not useful. And the Ultra SmartHub user documentation link on Arlo’s website does nothing. And one last thing, you are unable to speak to Arlo support without an active sunscription. - David A HodgesArlo camera and doorbell work great!We really like the security that the cameras give us
