- vegasbillTerrific thrillerDavid Baldacci has created a character, Walter Nash, who from modest beginnings has achieved the American dream: immensely successful at his job, a loving family and an unlimited future. Suddenly he is approached by an FBI agent and recruited to do something that will shatter everything he has built and achieved. The proposition leaves him no way out.
Events from that point on sink Nash deeper and deeper into the abyss. Relationships are violated, murders are committed and Nash is wrongly blamed for almost everything bad that happens. How he deals with all this makes for a compelling story. The characters he meets as he frantically tries to clear his name, escape his pursuers and rescue his loved ones are memorable in their own right.
This story has suspense, action, sex, murder, drugs, plot twists, international intrigue and more. I couldn't put it down. If you like thrillers this book is for you. One spoiler...it has a cliff hanger ending. I cannot wait for the continuation to come out next April. - Sharon BeverlySuspenseful, Surprising, Engaging!NASH FALLS has to be one of Baldacci's best books yet. He is methodical in setting up characters and situations. Character development is one of his extremely good abilities. At first, the story opens almost mundanely. Then, before you are aware, he cunningly draws you into a complex story. This is how he begins. But readers are in for a treat, as he pulls us deeper into his story. Backgrounds and situations seamlessly weave into ever more complex scenarios.
Whether reading or listening to NASH FALLS, time suspends as his world becomes ours. Our family took a long road trip for Thanksgiving and we listened to the Audible version of NASH FALLS Traffic, slow downs, and miles didn't matter, as we engaged with the story. Making stops along the way, we couldn't wait to get back in the car to continue the story. Yes, it's that engaging! We can hardly wait for Book 2 of NASH FALLS to be available. - Kindle CustomerCliff hanger at the end.The book is gripping so I could not put it down. However, I don’t like the ending at all or the fact that we have to wait until April to here the end of this story.
- JaniceNo good endingGreat book, but I did not like the ending. It left you
hanging and you have to purchase the sequel to find out what happens to the protagonist. - Donald F. KaminskiMade Me Angry; My Wife ForgivingThis was an excellent story to a point. It very much reminded me of "One Eyed Jacks," a movie with Marlon Brando & Karl Malden. I read this with gusto, but Baldacci did something I never saw happen in any of the other books I've read by him (although I haven't read all of his). He left the reader hanging. I was super upset, and now I'm compelled to buy the next book to hopefully obtain a conclusion. This is a tactic I see in cheaper authors so as to make more money. My wife, however, was more forgiving, and is able to live with the story, as such, and await to new book in April 2026. Needless to say, I should have dinged him three stars for this crummy maneuver.
- Darin Fredrickson, CPPExcellent Narrative with TwistsExcellent storyline, kept me on the edge of my seat. It moves quickly and features numerous plot twists. Little slights about DWB disappointed me, as it supports a false narrative of police profiling, of which I am an SME on the topic. In Chapter 56, the author introduces the "life-companion" Shocker, a primary character in the book with the same name. This wasn't necessary and distracts from an excellent storyline. I see other excellent long-time authors dropping shockers like this later in the book. It's just not necessary to do to satisfy I small group. After reading other reviews about the book leaving readers in a cliffhanger until the next release, I am just going to quit the book now. Not necessary to change the writing style to meet the current social climate.
- Kindle CustomerExciting New Character IntroducedThere are three distinct sections in this book. The first part introduces Nash as a successful businessman with a happy home life and an estranged relationship with his late dad. He is approached by the FBI to help with a case they are building against his employer. This first part ends with Nash's daughter being kidnapped and Nash being accused of horrible crimes. Nash runs. The second part involves Nash turning into a different person as he trains with an old war buddy of his father. His training will turn him into something and someone else. And the third part is the most exciting as Nash seeks revenge against those that wronged him. This is and exciting introduction to Baldacci's latest hero. My only problem is that I didn't realize that this story won't end until the second volume which comes out next April.
- Kindle CustomerNext Book? This book got off to a slow start, but once it got moving, I couldn't put it down.
Walter Nash is a family man; wife, teenage daughter, and second in command in his corporate job. He's living the good (though boring) life. He's approached by the FBI and asked to be a mole in his company to connect them to a money laundering operation based in the far East. Faced with threats to derail his entire life, he's left with no choice except to do as he's asked.
He digs into his company's financial dealings and discovers cover-ups, shady financial deals, and also that three of the previous FBI "recruits" died under mysterious circumstances.
Then a horrible tragedy strikes his family and he is blamed. On the run from the law and the criminal enterprise, he joins forces with one of his father's friends to try to turn the tables and prove his innocence.
The story starts moving along quickly....until it ends abruptly. Hopefully, we'll see another book continuing the story of Walter Nash.
