Top reviews from the United States
- HyruleBest scope for the moneyBest one for the plants and to tell when there ready super simple to use and connect
- K. MacGreat detailed imagesWorks well and easy to use. Provides much better images than another microscope I bought. Great value for the price.
- ClaraIt's okay, but not perfectIt works, its pretty easy to use as well, the software you have to download for the PC is a little questionable but the phone app is pretty good, you can tell the PC version was an after thought.
Pros:
-If you're looking for a cheap microscope this is pretty good for the cost.
-The Phone Software is pretty well thought out
-Come with a USB charger as well as the stand which is nice quality of life stuff.
-The stand is a nice solid metal piece and honestly I wasn't expecting it to be as nice of a quality as it was.
The Average:
The build is a little flimsy but not 'fall apart in your hand' bad, so for the cost I'm going to say about average.
Cons:
-There is no battery level marker as far as I can tell which can be a pain sometimes.
-The light is. . . questionable, it often goes out on me for no reason, I have to hit the side of the thing a few times to get it come back on.
-The zoom is overstated. It's not going to be giving you the levels they said it would, but its pretty good otherwise. - MichelleThis is a cheap, goA4I love this quick go-to!
As with anyone who has a wide collection of plants, pests will eventually introduce themselves. I have over 400 plants, some cheap, some very costly.
This is a quick go-to for checking my leaves for pests and or pest eggs.
Download the app, hook it to your WiFi, and your phone cameras acts as the screen video through the app.
It’s pretty neat and cheap.
I like it. It works well. - GrapeA few instructions to get started with this terrific microscope!!Below is my 5 star review which I still agree with! I love this microscope. It's fun and easy to use. BUT if you need to use the stand with it which I often do because my hands aren't steady enough to get a good view of things, sadly the tightening mechanism in the stand doesn't work. It can't hold the microscope in a position that allows you to use the stand. It falls down :(
Below is my 5 star review which is accurate! The 1 star review above is about the stand only.
Got this product to see if there were dust mites in my house! In one photo, you can see a piece of paper towel with a small amount of dust that was in a drawer. In the other photo, you can see what the dust looks like, looking through the digital microscope!! (To be honest, I’m not exactly sure what it shows! Maybe there are mites in there? I don’t know!????♂️)
When I bought it, I was sure it was going to be too difficult to figure out how to use. Then I discovered the microscope comes with a user manual!
A couple of things to know…
It needs to be charged before you use it. Charging cable is included. Charge it through a wall outlet. It says it takes about two hours or so to charge. In the back you’ll see a red light coming from inside which tells you it needs to be charged and when it’s fully charged the light will turn blue. The manual says it will stay charged for three hours.
Download the app Max-see
Turn the microscope on before opening the app.
Open the app… Launch it… Connect it to Wi-Fi. It may say it’s Not connected, but it is!
What the microscope is pointed at now shows up on your phone screen!
There is also a way to connect it to your computer, but I connected it to my phone so I could walk around with it.
It asks to have access to my photos, but I did not allow it basically because I wasn’t sure if this was a safe thing to do.
When I saw something on my phone screen that I wanted to take a photo of I took a screenshot. You can also press one of the buttons on the microscope to take a photo.
You will surely develop your own methods!!
Enjoy using it!!???? - agI love it, but...The quality of images and magnification VASTLY exceeded my expectations (I was realistic, borderline pessimistic when buying this device though).
I think it's best to start with the attached photos and see for yourself first:
1. a ruler - smallest measure is 1/16 inch
2. a ruler - smallest measure is 1 mm
3. an oat kernel
4. blade of a knife
5. some electronics (I think I could have done a better job with this one)
6. more electronics (same comment as above)
7. black sesame seed (because of the very light background you don't get much detail - lesson learned; look at the magnification for this one though, black sesame or white, the size is more or less the same)
8. skin on a fingertip
9. pixels on a desktop monitor
10. hair
OK, so a couple of things first:
0. this review reflects my very fist impressions about the device
1. I did not try very hard to get best photos, I believe you can do better than what you can see in the attached photos - these photos were taken with the device connected to a Linux machine (Ubuntu to be exact), where it was recognized as a web cam (I used Cheese app for this, if you are interested)
2. I think you can get better magnification by removing the protective cap that keeps stuff away from the front lens, to protect it I guess - the thing is, you need to get closer to get better magnification - I actually tried removing the cap and it kinda worked, but the depth of field is soooo small when you go beyond the distance of the protective cap, that it's difficult to get good photos (not fully tested)
3. I have not tried videos
4. I barely touched the app for PC that comes with the hardware
5. I did try the software for Android that comes with the device, it did not work
What I like:
1. Magnification - the reasonable one, i.e. with the protective cap on, I love it. (Again - if you remove the cap, you can possibly get closer and thus you can get better magnification, but I did not test that.)
2. It works as a regular USB webcam
3. It works with Linux (see above- works as a webcam)
4. Battery operated (would be more useful if it actually worked as wifi camera)
5. Wi-fi connectivity as a feature (I mean I'd like it if it worked with my phone)
What I don't like:
1. does not work on my Android device (installed the software, turned cam on, connected to wifi - black screen; restarted everything - did not help - that was on Pixel 2XL, not sure if it matters).
2. The stand - it's terrible, it will probably look nice on a shelf, but it's not very useful otherwise
3. Android App - it DOES NOT WORK for me
4. the protective cap is too conservative in it's protective duties - it keeps observed object at a distance that I think could be reduced, if the distance was reduced it'd produce much better magnification
Overall - I love it.
Taking away 2 stars only because the Android app is not working - the WiFi feature was the big thing advertised for this device and it just doesn't work for me.
