5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Gift For Starwars Fans!

Despite its small size, this little virtual pet game system is filled with fun! R2-D2 grows and changes based on how you take care of him. Not too much care is needed and taking care of R2 isn't annoying.
The chirps, beeps, and whistles that R2 makes are cute but don't sound quite like the R2-D2 from the movies. The buttons are a little hard to press and the screen can be hard to see at times, but once you get the hang of the buttons and view the screen under a decent amount of light, it isn't too bad. The screen does NOT have its own backlight, meaning the screen itself does not light up, but as long as the screen is under enough light, the play experience can be enjoyable. This system cannot be turned off without removing the batteries, but you can mute it at any time by holding down the first and third button (buttons A and C) at the same time, which is quite nice to prevent random unwanted beeping from R2. The little game will sometimes surprise you with unexpected character appearances, which is fun. Great for kids, teens, and even adults! Can be enjoyed by men and women, boys and girls who love Star Wars and virtual pets. Wonderful gift!

Thanks for reading. May God bless you. Jesus Christ loves you! You are precious and you matter! Have a great day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interactive and Well Themed

The media could not be loaded.
The overall design is small - but don't let that sway you from buying. You can reed, play the frog mini game, ball game from the razorcrest, cup game, and move through multiple stages of unlocking new emblems, that are of course Star wars themed.

5.0 out of 5 stars So cute and fun

I missed tamagotchi’s and the nostalgia I had when I got it and it is adorable. The quality of it is good, along with the durability. I have had mine for over a year and the paint is just now starting to fade. The screen is easy to see and use. I think the battery life is great, especially when I was able to reset its life a few times on the original battery. I would totally buy again!

4.0 out of 5 stars Son bought with his money

My son had really been wanting a Tamagotchi, so he had saved some of his money to purchase this as he loves Star Wars. He was a bit disappointed at the size of it, I think he thought it would be bigger. It is very small. It works, but it’s not as entertaining as he hopes to. Still somewhat of a cute gift, but he does not play with it

I purchased this as a gift for my Star Wars obsessed spouse as a birthday gift and he loves it. It works well, he has had no issues with it despite dropping it a few times, and it's cute and gives him that nostalgia that comes with it. Overall I'm glad I bought it, would buy it again and definitely think it's a fantastic gift to give.

3.0 out of 5 stars Didn't get to see any ending before he started over again

I was recently feeling nostalgic for my old '90s Tamagotchi, and when I went looking online for one, I discovered new Tamas exist and promptly ordered a few (in addition to replacing my old one with another original of the same color for nostalgia's sake). I got R2 a few days ago and took good care of R2 for his life cycle (3 days), and I was pretty happy with him, but I am really annoyed that it just reset itself at the end. It was only a few minutes after the last time I tended to R2, and I was at my desk with my headphones on while working. As soon as I realized he was beeping, I looked at him and saw the screen fading from black, and a new/unevolved R2 appeared on my screen.

So my R2 ended and reset without me even getting a chance to see the ending screen or getting a choice about whether I was ready to begin again. (At least I assume that is what happened since it was about time for his life cycle to end.) I wanted to take a break between life cycles. I'm not sure if this was a fluke/a glitch or if this is really how these new Tamas are designed to end, but I am annoyed that I was deprived of seeing an ending and that I had no way to just leave it alone for a while on an ending screen to take a break before resetting him. (I'm going to see if it works to take a break by leaving him in clock-set mode.) Maybe it's possible he got kidnapped and carried away by Jawas or something, but again, it should have some sort of ending screen remain on the screen until I reset it. I got zero indication of what had happened.

Now for my review other than the annoying ending (or lack thereof). R2 and his little beeps are quite cute. The mini-games are pretty fun, especially playing chess with Chewie. You'll unlock additional games a couple of times when he evolves throughout his life cycle. R2 doesn't seem to require much care compared to some other virtual pets. There's no meter to check on how charged he is or how happy he is, so it's unclear how often you should play with him. I played with him often to be safe. He often said no to me charging him, so he doesn't need charging particularly often. It does indicate visually when he needs to be cleaned. I sort of wish there was a little more to it, but he's still a fun little Tama and enjoyable for Star Wars fans. It's fun to see the various Star Wars characters and scenes that pop up at different times of the day. It's also nice that you can alternate between playing a few games with him instead of only getting one game like with classic Tamas.

Lots of people comment about the size. It should be obvious before purchasing that this isn't a classic-style Tamagotchi. This is a nano (my first nano). Do a little reading, folks! Takes a few minutes to research Tamagotchi types. I do prefer the classic size and shape, but I don't mind this one. It's pretty cute. It's not quite as tall or wide as original Tamas, but it is rounder/thicker. I'm including a photo for size comparison.

Two stars subtracted mainly due to the ending issue, plus I wish there was some sort of status meter to see what he needs and to have an idea of how often you should play games with him.

Editing to add later: can confirm after running him multiple times that he simply resets himself every time his life cycle ends. No ending screen, nothing.

5.0 out of 5 stars CUTEST!!

This is the cutest thing ever, so fun to goof around with. There's a zillion different possibilities, the instructions that come with it don't explain even a fraction of it. Definitely take a moment to google this thing so you can see all the stuff it does. :)
