- Rob WA perfect pick for my mom to watch Prime TV and local newsI got this for my mom so she can easily stream her favorite shows on Prime Video and catch local news without fuss—and so far it’s working beautifully.
What we love:
Setup was straightforward and quick—she didn’t get frustrated, which is a big win.
The interface is simple and intuitive, so she can switch between Prime TV and local news with confidence.
Picture and audio are great—she’s enjoying her shows, and the news looks crisp and clear.
It’s freed her from relying on old-cable subscriptions and given her a more modern streaming experience.
She especially likes that she can pick up the remote and go—no complicated menus or extra devices required.
A couple of notes:
If your internet connection is on the slower side, you might notice a slight delay or buffering—they didn’t here, but something to keep in mind.
Some of the features (premium apps, extra channels) may still require subscriptions—so if your mom wants more than Prime or basic news, you may want to review those costs together.
Final take:
If you’re shopping for a gift for a parent or someone who mainly wants to watch Prime Video + local news without hassles, this hits the mark. It’s user-friendly, reliable, and gives them the freedom to choose what they watch and when. Highly recommended. - Ken CharmFixed Netflix oddities on an older TCL TVNetflix always seems to have a couple shows we want to watch. So, instead of periodically unsubscribing and re-subscribing, it’s always present. Also, T-Mobile pays most of the bill as a perk.
But it was tough to watch on our 7+ year old TCL TV. We bought the TV for ease of use and reliability, but worth every passing month, Netflix became less and less stable. Hitting pause was a crap shoot; sometimes it would pause, sometimes it wouldn’t. Then in-pausing brought more uncertainty. Sometimes it would start again, sometimes it wouldn’t, and sometimes your TV would reboot itself.
Then I remembered that on the rare occasion I watched something from Netflix on a different device, I had no issues. I also had no issues with other streaming services. It was a Netflix only thing that was only on the TCL TV.
From what I read on the subject, Netflix and Roku don’t play nicely with one another.
I was ready to replace the TV, but decided to spend $25- to test a theory. So I bought the Fire Stick.
The results were better than expected. Netflix works perfect now and I swear the TV’s resolution has improved slightly.
I wasn’t going to buy the fanciest TV, so this didn’t save thousands of dollars, but it saved me a few hundred.
I prefer the simplicity of the Roku UI, but the Fire Stick’s UI isn’t difficult to navigate. I wish I’d bought this a long while ago. - Jonathan keyGreat system at a great priceIt's simple to set up it's a little more interesting because I use Roku but I wanted to see how fire stick worked I love the speed of the stick and the fixes for certain apps and the UI is snappier all in all it is a great system and the 4k is really great all in all it's a solid tv system
- Bruno Queiroz Reis de BarrosExcellent qualityIt works really well. I needed to use VPN and be able to use streaming services at the same time and Fire stick worked really well. The image quality is really good.
- M. KoliasGreat for older TVsSet up was super easy because it was already registered to my account. I haven’t had any of the issues others have mentioned yet. I will say that I bought the previous version of this and it quit working after 2 years. It’s extremely affordable so I didn’t mind buying another version. The cubes although more expensive seem to be very reliable. I’m using this on a bedroom tv that’s over 6 years old. Fingers crossed that it lasts longer.
- VenenanaGreat Streaming Stick with Sharp 4K and Lots of ContentThis Fire TV Stick 4K has turned an older TV into a very smart one. The picture quality is sharp and colorful in 4K, and apps like Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, Disney+ and others run smoothly. The interface is easy to understand, even for someone who isn’t very tech-savvy, and the remote responds quickly without lag.
I really like the Alexa voice control on the remote. It’s much faster to say the name of a movie or app than to type it out, and it also works well for simple things like adjusting the volume or opening specific channels. The Wi-Fi 6 support helps keep the connection stable, even when other devices are using the network at the same time.
There are a lot of recommendations and ads on the home screen, which might feel a bit busy for some people, but once you set up your favorite apps and profiles, it’s easy to ignore. Overall, it’s a compact, affordable device that delivers excellent streaming quality and a huge amount of content in one place. - Kari-Annfast streaming, and 4K picture qualityThe Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (newest model) is a very compelling streaming stick for most users. It strikes a great balance between price, performance, and features:
Highly recommended if you want 4K streaming, good performance, and a smarter way to search content.
Especially good for people with Wi‑Fi 6 routers, or those planning to upgrade their network.
Also useful for casual gamers via cloud gaming.
Less ideal if you need a ton of local app storage, or if your internet setup doesn’t support faster speeds.
If you like, I can compare this Fire TV Stick 4K with other top 4K streaming devices (Roku, Chromecast, etc.) in 2025 — do you want me to do that?
