  • It's The Beatles / Fans Have To Have It
This, of course, is a must for Beatles fans who lived through their time. Being a part of it myself I grab every release with the hope that I'll hear something new or different. This collection gives us a few of those moments, and with the grouping of the last three songs post John and later post George, it is a very good collection. The sound is excellent considering the age of the music. They were just great, and this is a way to hold on to them, as the end is oh so near.
To those complaining about this being another money-making scam, just don't buy it because you're really not a fan.
  • OMG!!!Giles Martin Masterpiece
This is the best Beatles CD release since LOVE (not including Box Sets). The great new remastering alone is enough to sell this set.Sounds Fantastic. All the new unreleased versions with studio chatter like the Beatles asking Mal to bring them some Cokes and Marijuana are priceless. If you only buy one CD in 2025 this is the one!Giles Martin took a full year to put this CD together and it shows.Must have for any Beatle Fan.
  • Very enjoyable listen
It’s The Beatles what else needs to be said. Some of this versions are superior to the released tracks. Worth it for the improved vocal quality of the “Threetle” tracks.
  • Nice set with two complaints-could be more dynamic and the holders are too tight.
Featuring a baker’s dozen of unreleased tracks (some have appeared digitally), “Anthology 4” gathers together those tracks with new mixes using MAL of “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love”. The other tracks from the boxed sets for the respectively albums have been level shifted but have not been remastered.

The set is well presented although with one major issue. The packaging in cardboard sleeves that is sturdy and well made. However, the holders for the CDs are excessively tight. I would have gone with a slightly bigger cardboard sleeves and included CD sleeves for the set.

Are the reunion tracks significantly different from previous? For the 90’s tracks, these features some alternate guitar parts, some minor differences in lyrics (meaning a different line was inserted). Are they better? Well, Lennon’s vocals are. As to if they are better…they are really just different. They are a nice alternative. Be aware that some of George’s guitar answering phrases to John’s vocal for “Real Love” have been removed. Why? I have no idea. It’s also about 20 seconds shorter. Again, I have no idea why.

How is the remastering? They are OK. It isn’t as dynamic as the original releases but they still sound pretty good. “Now and Then” sounds the same as the previous releases. I had hoped it would be more dynamic. It isn’t. The dynamic range varies from 7 to 11 for most tracks EXCEPT “Now and Then” which is still a 4. The remixes of the 90’s tracks average 8. Given the wide dynamic range that CDs can support, it makes no sense to reduce the dynamics further so I’ve docked it a star but the content is exceptional for the baker’s dozen tracks that are new to CD.
  • A Worthy Addition
A worthy addition to the series, love the remixes of “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love”! It’s nice to have the three final Beatles recordings all in one place.
  • Always looking for interesting stuff from the vaults but this is a bit underwhelming...
I was excited to get this, mainly because it's cool to hear different takes of songs that are, at this point, in my DNA. It's sometimes a really great experience to hear something I know so well done just a bit differently. The early outtakes, and songs like "I've Just Seen a Face", "In My Life", "Got to Get You Into My Life", "Baby You're a Rich Man" and an unadorned "Here Comes the Sun" are highlights here for me. The "Julia" rehearsal bits are cool, too. I was a little miffed that Giles Martin didn't at least center the vocals and drums on the quasi-stereo versions. The technology is available, and I'd much prefer a proper mix than just a remaster of original tapes.

Also, too many instrumentals for my taste. It can be interesting to hear but I'd rather hear their voices on "Hey Bulldog" and "Nowhere Man" (the harmonies are there on the intro but nowhere else in this track).

FInally, the remixed "new" tracks from the 1995 Anthology were OK but not as strong as "Now and Then", which I thought came out wonderfully. The new mixes of "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love" may grow on me with more listens but right now they don't seem mixed very well. Maybe I expected more and need to dial it back a bit.

All that said, I'm glad I got it because I'm always interested in something "new" from the Beatles. I'd be for them releasing more Anthologies but being more careful in the selections. This does seem somewhat thrown together. So, it's the Beatles, which means it's great, but it's also less than I thought it would be. Probably not for the casual fan but goofballs like me will love it, as usual. Contrary to the song title, I ALWAYS give them my money...
  • Enjoying more outtakes of the Beatles!!!
EXCELLENT, very good sound quality, if you are a Beatles fan I would recommend this anthology 4. The album came in perfect condition and arrived on time.
  • THERE ARE NO BAD BEATLES ALBUMS!!
I haven’t had a chance to listen to the new Beatles Anthology 4 yet. But I am a Beatles nut (my man cave could be a Beatles museum) who has been alive for every Beatles album release and they NEVER released a bad album!! I hope to be able to listen to this new anthology album once the holidays are over!
