Top reviews from the United States
- marleneAbsolutely worth it!My Galaxy (4) watch was ready for an upgrade!
I always do my research and read the reviews before I buy a product. This purchase was no different. I was somewhat concerned with a number of reviewers complaining that the battery was not good and didn't last long. So, I want to address that concern first.
With all of my watches I never use the Always on Display function. I realize that the watch faces are beautiful on the Galaxy Screen. However, those beautiful bright LED's use power. If you leave them on all the time you can expect maximum battery drain. I have everything turned on except the AOD. Yesterday I used my watch a lot as I was playing and experimenting with all the cool features. Wore it through the night to monitor my sleep. This morning at 6 a.m. I had used a total of 27 percent of battery power for a 24 hour period! At this rate of power usage I can expect 3+ days of use. Battery life doesn't concern me at all.
SETUP (Stars*****)
I was expecting to make a trip to my service provider because I use the LTE version. I figured I could do all the setup minus the phone provider portion at home. I was extremely impressed with the setup/switch procedure. Simple, straight forward and quick!
I was pleased at how simple and easy the setup was. As soon as I was done I needed to let my dogs out for a walk. While I was out walking the girls my Watch rang! I answered it and had a nice conversation. The switch feature swapped over and set up all of my LTE functions without the need to spend half a day at my phone providers location!
DIGITAL RING VERSUS PHYSICAL (Stars *****)
I never really liked the physical ring all that much. The new digital ring is awesome! Good job Samsung!
CHARGING (Stars *****)
Charges extremely fast with the little charger that comes with the watch. This small charger is great for travel. I ordered a couple more.
FITNESS (Stars *****)
I'm still using them and can only say that so far they are still the award winning excersize App/sensors they have always been.
AI (Stars *****)
Wow! This opens up a whole new experience with my watch. I use Alexa to do so many things now. The ability to put Alexa on my watch is a real game changer. Don't worry, if you prefer Google assistant you can use that as well.
ASTHETICS (Stars *****)
I think Samsung could have done a better job with the advertisement pics out there. I was initially disappointed at how the Galaxy 7 looked. When I actually got the watch I happily realized the pics don't do it justice. I think that this is the most aesthetically pleasing watch Samsung has made to date.
THE BAND (Stars ***)
Nope. I knew I didn't like the watch band it comes with from the pics. If you want an extra you can have mine. I ordered a watch band from Wingle to match the silver of the watch. Wow! They are a perfect match and look gorgeous!
I couldn't be happier! What a great Smartwatch. When you pair this watch with the Samsung family of devices it is in a class of it's own!
OVERALL: Five Stars!
RECOMMEND?: Absolutely YES! - Chris C.Great Watch, Fair price for all the features!Amazing watch that has been impressive and fun to use. I always swore I would never go digital and in some events I would wear a classic analog watch just for the look. But for everyday use, this watch is great. I have the 44mm watch because I am a tall fella with big wrists. I didn't want a tiny watch. The screen is beautiful. Setup is simple with the app, and I have had no disconnection issues with it unless I have gone too far away from my phone. I bought the one with LTE capability just in case I decide to need it. But I am seldom away from my phone. I was worried the default band would be too small for my large wrists, but it has many options for large or smaller wrists, and there are tons of options on Amazon for replacement bands. My only complaint would be the default color of the band. The olive green is awful. I have other bands coming tomorrow through Amazon though. I wish they would have just done a black default band. All of the folks complaining about the watch battery life is because they are most likely trying to use it like a phone. When setting up, you have the option to choose which apps you want on the watch. I only installed the apps I wanted notifications from. On top of that, you must disable the screen always on option in the settings so it only shows up when you lift your wrist to your face. There is no need to have it online all the time. With how I have it configured and with moderate use, my watch generally lasts me 2 and a half days on a full charge. It charges pretty quickly on the included base that came with it. I normally charge it while I am working at my computer since my phone is with me and a clock is on the computer, it isn't missed and gives my wrist a break. Using a keyboard with a watch on isn't very fun. It is a beautiful watch, great to use, and the health features for fitness, heart monitoring and such are great to have as well. I got mine on the day they announced the 8 which looks like it is going to be a very nice upgrade.
- BuccosNice watchI purchased this watch months ago! I got it for my wife as a birthday gift because its compatible with her Samsung cell phone. She loves it. She uses it everyday! It fits well, not that big, and has a sleek appearance. She has dropped it several times and its still perfectly functional, and in tact!
- Brett N. AndersonBattery life not great - otherwise solid purchase and quality for the price.Been a long time Garmin watch owner and user. Decided to change it up with the Galaxy 7 just to see what I thought of it and put it to the test again Garmin.
Overall good quality watch and the 40mm size is about your avg size for a male. Fits nicely and comfortably on the wrist. I like the band flap that tucks into the underside of the band, Garmin has a band that held the overlay part of the band in place, but often broke and was rather flimsy. I have not tried the device in water and likely won't so no comment on waterproof. Connectivity setup and configuration was very easy as it uses watch to configure off your Wi-Fi already setup, if at home. The Samsung Health app is very comparable to that of Garmin in all those health ways, if you are really into that.
Now to the biggest issue I have with the Galaxy. The battery life. At best with the most minimum of bells/whistles/alerts etc setup -- you will get maybe 36 hour of the watch.
First day I had it, fully changed by 6 PM, and just default settings, by the next morning I was down to 5%
Navigation on the watch is less that great as you can swipe all directions to get different menus and options and sometimes it's hard to swipe out of what you are in to get back to the watch face. But gets easier with time.
All in all, a great watch with lots of gadgets and apps and good overall interface with phone + watch, just wish the battery life was better.
