- c'est la vie????????Easy to assemble, sturdy, cordless 20V snow shovelThis is not the first electric shovel I have owned, but is my first cordless battery-powered shovel. Having used a battery-powered lawn mower, string trimmer, blower, power drill, etc. for a number of years, I no longer have the concerns I used to have over battery life or lack of power, as the battery-operated tools have proven themselves to have comparable power to that of corded tools, and can usually finish the job without needing a recharge.
I especially like not being tethered to a power cord and being able to make a path to the mailbox, clear the front walk and go wherever I need to go, without tripping over a cord or worrying about it getting caught up in the snow thrower. Out of the box, this power shovel comes mostly assembled, requiring attachment of the snow thrower attachment to the shaft and the handle to the shaft.
I installed the U-shape because it’s larger and provides more hand-hold options than the more-narrow closed loop handle. The handle is adjustable along the shaft, so you can tailor the fit to avoid back ache and fatigue caused by using the shovel for extended periods of time.
The tool is fairly long at about 55 inches, so me being 5ft-7 inches, I’m not having to hunch over during use, and with a twist of the wing-nut, I can adjust the handle to make the tool a better fit.
The fully assembled tool weighs in at about 10 pounds with the 20V li-ion battery installed. You push the shovel and do not lift it during operation, so you don’t really feel the weight. The head of the shovel is 12-inch wide and is good for about 4-6 inches of light, fluffy snow.
This shovel is ideal for small driveways, walkways, decks and patios, and also can serve as a back-up on those rare occasions when there is a foot of snow on the ground and my 2-stage snow blower doesn’t want to start.
The battery has some weight, but the majority of the weight is in the shovel end, which does a nice job of throwing the snow and getting down to the pavement. The manufacturer claims the snow thrower attachment will throw snow 15 ft, I will update this when I use it. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this VOLTASK power shovel. - Gary EFantasticI was going in skeptical about ordering a battery powered snow shovel, but this product went above and beyond. It was easy to unpack and put together. I went with the 48 v version and the batteries lasted longer than I needed and plenty of power to clear 4-5 inches of snow in front walkway and two car driveway. Took about an hour with this snow shovel but when I shove it with a shovel it takes about 2-2.5 hours. It’s nice that it has the angling feature and doesn’t have to just throw snow out straight. I would give ten stars if I could.
It was only the first use, so we will see how it holds up over time, but for the price if it only last 2 years I would be ecstatic! At the price point and ease of use definitely would recommend.
Light weight with plenty of power and battery life. Functionality and Maneuverability two thumbs up. - Charles KosterGood electric shovel and arm workoutMy only complaint is that it is kind of heavy to manoeuvre. It does great whisking away the snow and the battery life is good. Much better than regular shoveling despite the weight.
- Kimberly M.Would recommendI was skeptical at first in how this would work, but so far it's great! This was my first season and I have used it several times with different types of snow. It had a little trouble doing a 3 inch snow with a layer of 1 in ice but still got the job done!. I am only doing about a 100 foot wheelchair ramp and sidewalk area but is great to get the snow off instead of shoveling and made the jobs much quicker and easier. I used it about 6 times and never had to charge the batteries. You can't use this on gravel, but I have used it on grass and it worked fine as well
- DoloresEasy to useI purchased this snow shovel in 2022 & am very happy with my purchase. I am a 78 year old grandma in NE Wisconsin with health issues & am still able to use this battery operated snow shovel without any problems. I like that it is lightweight & works very well in light fluffy snow. However, I have used it in 6” of wet heavy snow by lifting the shovel & taking off the top layer of snow before going back & shoveling the remaining snow on my deck. I have a herniated disk in my lower back so it was a challenge for me to remove the 6” of heavy snow from my large deck.
I wish that I could change the direction of the snow on this shovel but it only shoots the snow forward. I would purchase this product again if needed. I purchased an extra battery & charger for this shovel to keep as spares. However , I used it last week to make a double path from my 125’ driveway to my mailbox & I still had 2 lights still lit on the battery when I finished using the Voltask battery operated shovel. Dolores - mary morgan-ottPoor customer service/Bad productWouldn't give any stars but have to to 1 to leave review
Loved it when I first got worked great .
2nd winter doesn't run at full speed even with fully charged batteries and i say batteries because it takes 2 to run anyway i contacted voltask for help because supposed to be 3 year warranty and after multiple emails on my part I get the reply that according to the video I had to send to them they said it should be enough to throw snow and they would send me a free yes I said a battery remember I said it takes 2 what good would one battery do me ?? I'm not even having issues with the batteries it's the blower it's self Beware poor customer service - Carol PinedaLASTED THROUGH ONE AND A HALF USES.We get plenty of snow in Colorado. The first time I used it on 4 inches of snow, I gave up and used my snowblower because ot was a fairly heavy snow. The 2nd time worked fine on 2 inches of light snow. The last time I used it I got about 1/2 way through and some of the plastic pieces broke off. It still worked but didn't throw the snow as far. I will continue to use it for very light snows. On a good note the batteries lasted through my 3 car driveway and corner sidewalk.
