Will be using it for Christmas lights too. Would recommend this. It also had a cover for outdoor use which was handy during rainy weather.
- cjcgreenEasy to set up with multiple programsSo far so good with the timer. It's easy to set up, and seems to be well made. It has multiple programs that you can set, including a random option which will be good for when we're away from home for an extended period of time. Each program has a host of options for what days the timer will go off, making it that much more versatile. I use it for turning on the lighting for my Halloween display, and it rests on a branch at the base of a bush. So far it has held up well under heavy rain conditions, so I have nothing but good things to say about it. Definitely recommend it.
- Jonathan SchumacherWorks well for what I need it for, but pins are smallIt's a standard mechanical timer. I like that it has enough pins to break each hour into 15 minute segments. It's only been setup a week and it's working so far to control the outdoor heated shelter for my cats. But I'm only using 1 of the 2 outlets.
However, I took 1 star off because the pins are a bit too small for my fingers. When I first set it up, I kept pressing too many pins up and down (I wanted 30 mins on, 30 mins off). I finally used the point of a drywall screw I found to push the pins up and down. You can use anything pointy: pushpins, nails, screws, tweezers, etc. to set the pins.
I do like the black cover as I was able to use a metallic silver sharpie marker and write on the inside pins down = on, pins up = off. I always forget which way the pins should go. The cover doesn't lock into place but it seems sturdy enough to survive any heavy rain/wind storms. - KasieDefinitelyPurchased for 2025 holiday season. So far they work great.
