  • Very informative and usable. Excellent recipes to boost your nutrients daily.
    I have read many books on nutrition and this is by far my favorite. Very easy to implement and add in from the list of foods Dr. Li provides, along with delicious and easy recipes. The protein bars are so tasty and full of all kinds of stem cell rejuvenating foods. The oyster sauce chicken is simple and delicious. I’ve made the kiwi, pomegranate, blueberry salad a staple. These simple recipes add a powerful punch to your nutrition. Delicious, Whole Foods and no diet gimmicks here.
  • A very flexible approach to dieting
    This is a GREAT diet book. It’s a very flexible diet approach, not restrictive at all. Dr. Li explains many nutritional concepts and how they work in our body in very easy to understand manner. The book explains clearly how metabolism works, why what we eat can contribute both to health and disease, how to optimize our immune system, ways to restore our health. He explains the biochemistry of food, their interaction and effects on our internal organs at the cellular level that is easy for lay people to understand.

    The book focuses on preventive measures that do not require sacrificing our food preferences. It does emphasize to eat the food we like in moderation. It approaches FOOD AS MEDICINE, and how food can promote angiogenesis which can have both positive and negative effects on our body, how regeneration via stem cells work in our body, how the microbiome in out gut defend for our health, how to protect our fragile DNA, how our immune system works, and ways we can do within our control to protect ourselves from cancer. I never understand how ‘mitochondria’ works until I read his books.

    It has list of foods that apply to the five concepts that impact our defense system and how food can be used to fight fat and protect from cancer: Angiogenesis, Regeneration, Microbiome, DNA protection, and Immunity. It shows readers how to plan their diet, and it has recipe ideas. Dr. Li introduces the “MediterAsian diet,” and why Standard American Diet promotes diseases.

    I highly recommend reading both of his books: Eat To Beat Disease and Eat To Beat Your Diet.
    Imagine when majority of us can use food as medicine, choose food wisely, eat in moderation, we will have prevented many preventable diseases that is costing our health system mega-billions, and jacking up our health insurance irredeemably, outrageously high! Dr. Li has made it easier to eat healthy and prevent illnesses. It’s not easy to change dietary habit, but Dr. Li’s diet approach is very flexible. And, we can certainly teach children how to eat healthy and prevent diseases that are within our control, and nurture healthier future generations.
  • EVERYONE should read this book!!!
    * I would give this 10 stars if I could!

    * Dr. Li has done an enormous amount of research to write this book.
    * As an expert in the field of chronic diseases and prevention, he has authored many of the studies he quotes, and shares research and data from many many others from around the world.
    * It is written with technical terminology, yet he explains everything in layman's terms, so it's very easy to understand. And he writes in such a way that doesn't "talk down" to you. He respects his readers.
    * In fact, this book gives hope to those dealing with chronic diseases and encouragement to be your own advocate in preventing disease in the first place. As the saying goes, "Knowledge is Power!" Yes, there is a wealth of information in this book, and it's a lot to take in. But read it, underline in it and read it again. Make it personal, to see where you can improve your diet, even if it's baby steps at first.
    * I highly highly recommend this book!!! You owe it to yourself because your health and quality of life depends on it.

  • I HIGHLY recommend this book!
    This book is filled with SO much valuable information about nutrition, foods that can actually destroy "bad stuff" that's attacking your body from the inside. I have been able to take myself off of a couple of the prescription drugs that I have been taking for quite a while because my "numbers" have consistently decreased since since I started following some of the advice that Dr. Li talks about in this book. Now, I'm NOT recommending that YOU do that...I'm just telling you what it's done for me.
  • Give your dr a copy and buy a copy for yourself. Great scientific based road map
    This is an amazing scientifically based and utilized work of Dr. William Li, who did pharmaceutical protocol testing on foods along with some cancer Rx drugs to see what worked best on cancer cure rate - charted from best to least effective in his lectures. Surprisingly some foods did a better job than a pharma Rx product! Everyone needs to read this. Truly shows how food is medicine or poison... but now you can drive the car in helping reduce chances of cancer, or perhaps being the one that gets cured against odds.
    Thoroughly impressed with Dr. Li's use of scientific method and easy to follow information you can put to work for yourself (after checking w/ your dr. of course) Dr. Li has utilized food products described in his book in his own patients where it greatly improved survival/cure rate in his own patients. Proven stuff... not just another book. Finally the food facts AS MEDICINE with road map. Your own dr needs to read this! Give to your doctor to educate him as little on nutrition is taught in med school. Give it to your loved ones and yourself - it can be a gift of life. Well written for the lay person. Easy to understand. Great tips to make a few changes with big results. Shows easy simple steps to start that won't overwhelm you. This book is your easy button for implementation
