- Old FishermanExcellent Camera FeederFirst let me say that this bird feeder works well, is easy to set up and does a good job identifying birds. The AI based data base is free for 30 days and then you have to pay a yearly subscription cost but it's worth it. As others have mentioned the camera sends videos to your phone and keeps a running count of how many times the particular species has visited the feeder. So far it has only mis-identified one bird labeling a grosbeak as a stellar jay. Anyway, I'm very happy with the camera
However, no fault of Birdsnap, but the feeder also will attract squirrels. I made the initial mistake of mounting the camera on a tree and the squirrels found it within the hour. The feeder does have an alarm you can trigger from your phone and initially it scared the squirrels away but they quickly learned that it couldn't hurt them and they ignored it. I got plenty of pictures of squirrel butts as they chowed down. I even tried the hot pepper laced seed that is supposed to dissuade them but they happily ate that too. They also chewed through the cable that attaches the solar panel to the camera and the battery finally ran down.
Not wanting to give up on the bird feeder I removed it from the tree. I purchased six-foot high pole that has a mounting platform on the top and side. Squirrels are only supposed to be able to jump around five feet thus the need for a tall pole. I had to attach two pieces of wood to the top platform so I could mount the feeder on top and the solar panel on the side. I was able to repair the solar panel by stripping the wires and reattaching them (though the wires are thin but it worked.) Finally I purchased and mounted a squirrel baffle and placed the whole thing in the middle of my back yard away from any trees that the squirrels could jump from. It worked. The squirrels can climb the pole but can't get past the baffle and it's too high for them to jump. Now I get plenty of birds and they seem to knock enough seed off the feeder so that the squirrels can graze on the ground underneath so everybody is happy.
Anyway, good camera and I'd recommend it but be aware you will attract squirrels. Here's a link to the baffle and pole I bought here on Amazon

- AI Technology: The Birdfy camera’s AI capabilities are mind-blowing. It automatically identifies over 6,000 bird species, allowing me to capture stunning close-up shots of our feathered friends. No more guessing games—I know exactly who’s visiting my feeder!
- Easy Setup: Setting up the Birdfy was a breeze. Within minutes, I had it connected to my smartphone via the Netvue app. The live feed is crystal clear, and I can even receive notifications when specific birds arrive.
- Durability: The Birdfy is built to withstand the elements. Rain or shine, it keeps on recording. Plus, the 940nm LEDs ensure excellent low-light performance for nighttime birdwatching.
- Affordable Luxury: While it’s not the cheapest option out there, the Birdfy’s features justify the price. It’s like having a professional bird photography setup without breaking the bank.
- Educational and Fun: The Birdfy has become a family favorite. We’ve learned so much about different bird species, their behaviors, and migration patterns. It’s educational and entertaining for all ages.
In summary, if you’re passionate about birds and want to capture their beauty up close, the Netvue Birdfy Smart Bird Feeder Camera is an absolute winner. Highly recommended! ???????? - NshiCool bird feeder that makes excellent giftGot this as a present for Mom. She loves it and has captured her attention for months. The ability to charge it by plugging it in or using a solar panel makes it super versatile. The app works well, except for the bird ID function which does not work well. But it alerts when there is a visitor in the feeder and records video. It's easy to refill with bird food. This is an excellent gift for anyone who likes outdoors or gardening.
- Stephanie HalasBird snap awesome productAwesome product! I love watching the birds in our yard and this happened to use the same app as our security cameras (VicoHome). Easy to assemble, easy to fill!
- GlennDWell-built, good video/pic quality, bird breed ident spottyThis birdhouse is very well-built, and holds about 8 cups of birdseed at a time. I HIGHLY recommend getting the solar panel charger with this and mounting both to the same pole. Even with heavy use, the camera battery has never dipped below 95%. I drilled a few holes in the ends of the orange perching bars to mount the hummingbird feeders to face directly up (instead of tilted), as they tend to leak.
Pros:
Easy to assemble
Lots of mounting options
Directions are pretty good -- for the birdhouse
Holds a lot of seed
Video/picture quality is pretty solid (must trigger 2K resolution in app, default is lower)
Seems like it'll be easy to clean
Cons:
Bird breed identification is spotty at best. I have more than 75 videos with at least 8 diff species, and it has only identified two.
App use has a bit of a learning curve, but once you've explored it fully, is ok. - Sharon KuhlmannYou’ll have no regrets purchasing this itemMy husband and I just love this. The recordings are crisp and clear and it identifies what types of birds that are visiting us. Easy to assemble and a great purchase. Glad I bought yhis
- Amazon CustomerFamily Sharing VideosLOVE THIS FEEDER!
Love it so much that my daughter has one in TN, we are in OH and have one at home and one at the camp. With another on the way for my mom. They are all linked on the App so we can watch the birds at each other’s place. I can even sound the alarm at my daughters in TN to scare away those nasty mean Grackles. My only problem which is at no fault of the feeder is the squirrels. They can get the lid open and do just that if it is out of food. Trying other feed to deter the squirrels and got them their own feeder with food they like which is not helping much. I highly recommend this feeder. It is such a joy to watch the videos and see what has been identified each day. Happy bird watching!!!
