- Amazon CustomerGreat Cameras, easy set upI've had blink cameras for years now. Their latest versions are cool and easy to set up. I just installed 2 ARC sets and the set of 5 NEW Blink cameras in 1 Arc in front of my home and one in the alley behind. Really cool Panoramic views. The update is coming for these and with it you'll see a single video instead of two separate ones. Theese are a vast improvement from the older Blink cameras. I replace 5 of my outdoor ones and moved the older ones to cover different areas where I didn't have cameras before. The ARC ones are picking up lots of wildlife around my house. The alley is like a freeway LOL Rabbits, Cats, Mice, and even a SKUNK!!!!
I Highly recommend this product ;) Great quality, Works flawlessly, Great Value, Easy to connect to an existing system.
I did get their membership as well. - Mango mochiLove Blink MinisI am a fan of Blink cameras. They look cute and is pretty sturdy. Functions are great as usual and picture quality is alot better than before. Videos are great and discount on Black Fridays is worth it. The smart detection is not bad sometimes can be off but overall functions does what it's supposed to do. We just got it so let's see how it does over the time too.
- Rob FUpdate - the camera's wifi is fine, for 802.11 b/g/nWhen it works, the video is outstanding. However, it's not ready for prime time yet.
The WiFi performance not nearly as good as the Mini 2 (non 2K) model. I have 6 mini 2's, and 4 mini 2 2K's, and the 2Ks can't stay on line for more than a day. The Mini 2's have been on line for months.
Granted, I am a non-typical user, I run a Firewalla Gold netowrk appliance into an AX11000 configured as an access point. I have over 50 IOT devices on the networks. They all work consistantly and stay on line, except for the Mini 2 2K's. All of the cameras are within a 30 foot sphere of the access point, i've measured WiFi signal strength at their locations, and it's easily sufficient to allow these devices to operate properly. Other devices further away have no problem.
So, I'd wait until they get their networking/WiFi issues solved with this new product. The Mini 2's are awesome, but not the 2Ks yet.
UPDATE - the problem was on my side - i have 3 access points connected to a firewalla gold se router. One of the access points was overloaded on 2.4 with devices that only use 802.11 b/g/n, which is what the Mini 2 cameras use, and that standard is from 2009 - it's virtually impossible to get more than 20 clients on line in a single channel. So, I moved them to a less loaded access point, and everything works great.
It would be fantastic if they used 802.11 ax from 2019, it uses OFDMA, MU-MIMO and is capable of managing many many more clients than the old standards.
So, they work great, just be careful with how much you load onto a single 2.4 channel. - ChrisSlick little camera. Not ideal for indoor night vision.Never owned a Blink Camera before, typically I try to use hardwired systems like Unifi Protect. We wanted a camera to watch the cats in my GF's apartment while we were away and to see how they behave when nobody is around, lol. Setup was stupid easy. It also loads fairly fast, although there is a 1-2 second delay when watching through the app.
I don't particularly love how the system needs to be "armed" to watch motion and record events. I probably won't renew the subscription after the free 30 days it comes with for our use case. The FOV is pretty good and image quality is surprisingly crisp. and the camera is decently small. Microphone is decent, speaker for 2 way audio is OK. Louder than I expected for such a small size.
Keep in mind, this camera does not have IR night vision. It instead needs the bright LED to be on which isn't ideal for indoor nighttime use. You can dim this light in the app, but even at its lowest setting, its pretty bright. Without the LED on, the image is pitch black at night. Motion detection works pretty good, although our environment is pretty forgiving so I'm not sure how well it would work at a distance. Haven't had any issues with connectivity yet.
I'd recommend this camera for the price and if it fits your specific use case. - Jorge RendonGreat security camera for a low priceGreat little camera with great picture quality video. The installation process was easy.
- Amazon CustomerAwesome wide-angle camera!Love this camera! Super easy to set up and the 180° view covers everything. Picture is super clear, even at night, and the motion alerts work great. Perfect for quick peace of mind around the house!
- Alan WernerUnreliable!!!Pros:
Slightly better picture quality
Very easy to install and set up
Cons:
Terrible connectivity (frequent dropouts and unreliable Wi-Fi)
Laggy interface with random crashes and freezes
Significant motion detection delay – often misses movements entirely
No longer includes the 1-month free subscription that used to come with new devices
Summary:
If you already own the previous generation, stick with it – the upgrade is not worth it. The minor picture quality improvement doesn’t justify the major reliability issues.
