- RachelBrings so much joy!!!I bought this bird feeder almost two years ago, and I cannot even begin to explain the amount of joy it has brought me! We get birds at our feeder every day, multiple times a day, and all year round! And so many different types including finches, sparrows, cardinals, blue jays, titmice, nuthatches, and multiple kinds of woodpeckers! I smile every time I see them.
The feeder is very well designed, the drainage holes allow water through without letting the seed get gross or create any build up. I do recommend using no-mess seed (pre-shelled), as that significantly helps the cleanup and makes it easier to figure out when the birds need a refill. It’s not a very large storage capacity with the shelf, but I do get 3-5 days between refills depending on how hungry the birds are. When they do need a refill, the shelf is very easy to fill and put back in place— and I’ve never had any birds knock it out of the feeder!
The suction cups work very well. A tip I saw from someone else in the reviews was to use Vaseline around the edges of the cups to create and even more stable suction. I do that every time I bring the feeder in to clean, and I’ve never had it fall off the window. The suction cups do need to be replaced about once a year, I think likely due to the fluctuating temperatures where I live, but that’s cheap and easy to do.
As far as a downside, replacing the suction cups and having to clean it once in a while are really all I can come up with! Otherwise, it is a delightful bird feeder and one of the things that brings me the most joy in life. It did take 2-3 weeks for the birds to find the feeder, so don’t be discouraged if they aren’t showing up right away! But I just love drinking my coffee and watching the birdies come in for their breakfast. This is truly one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. - ChristyA perfect addition to our home.Absolutely love this bird feeder! The suction cups are surprisingly strong and made installation a breeze—we had it up in minutes. Super sturdy, as well. Within just a couple of days, birds started showing up, and now we have regular feathered visitors every day! No issues with squirrels at all, and I would buy this again and again. Definitely worth every penny.
- TaraFoiled by Mr. RedVery sturdy, well-made window feeder. There are teeny holes in the bottom of the two-compartment tray to help keep the food dry. The roof helps too. Very easy to reach out the window and refill. Super easy to clean. Love the fact that it's 100% clear and see-through. The suction cups are strong, no sliding at all.
It's been nice seeing birds visit when it's raining or snowing--feels good to give them a warm, dry place to have a snack. I've seen chickadees, titmice, cardinals, blue jays, nuthatches, sparrows, house finches...and a red squirrel. Yes, this feeder's claim to "Virtually 100% Squirrel Proof," has been unstaked by Mr. Red in my backyard.
Since my satisfaction was 100% guaranteed with this product, I contacted the company and told them about who was able to jump inside the feeder and have a jolly old feast. Greg was very helpful. He suggested moving the feeder to different locations on the window, but since Red could jump from the side, he could get to it no matter where I put it. He could climb up from the windowsill. Then Greg suggested another window location but there aren't any other convenient windows where I could refill the feeder easily. That's one of the reasons one purchases a window feeder, right? To be able to refill it easily.
So a last-ditch suggestion was to put the feeder on a window where Red couldn't see it from his perch in a tree. I chuckled because my neighborhood is filled with trees! We are in the city, but we do have lots of trees everywhere. After several emails, photos & diagrams back and forth between me and Greg, he finally offered to refund my purchase price, and generously allowed me to keep the feeder. He said my squirrel has stumped him!
Red jumps on the roof of the feeder from the side of the window and shimmies down into the feeder tray. I have yet to capture a video of his acrobatics since he shows up at different times each day, but here are some pictures of cute little Mr. Red stuffing his furry face. I actually enjoy his visits now, as long as he doesn't scare off any birds. Thankfully it's not a much larger fox squirrel visiting, or all of my food would be gone in minutes and the feeder probably knocked to the ground. (Our fox squirrels are really fat.)
I'm waiting for spring, when the chipmunk comes out of hibernation, to see if he will be able to partake of the window-feeder feast, along with his buddy, Mr. Red Squirrel. - Mildred T. Just temper your expectations — it’s not a Disney movie outside your window 24/7. If you’re patient and don’t mind frequent refills, you’ll like it. If you want constant action, maybe look for a bigger or pole-mounted feeder. Glad I bought it, but I’m not obsessed.
- Stacy LeeAppears Pricey, but is so Worth ItI love this window feeder so much! I one so badly but didn’t want to buy a plastic one so I’m happy I waited until I could afford this one. The quality is excellent: I’ve only had to place it once and it has remained in the same spot ever since. The tray is durable too - I’ve seen at least two birds legitimately standing on it. The tray is also easy to fill and hasn’t gotten stuck for me yet.
And although I didn’t like it, a squirrel has actually stood inside it too ???? I’ve also seen birds even sitting on top of it waiting their turn ???? I feel a little sad though that some birds who aren’t familiar with it fly into the outside wall softly, but they quickly learn their lesson lol.
And again, while it seems a little pricey, it is well worth the money. I’ve spent hours just watching the birds fly in and out throughout the day, and I’m happy to see them feeding when I wake up.
Note: It took them a few weeks to be able to find it, but all the days I spent sprinkling bird seed around it and in nearby bushes and other areas they frequent has paid off!
