- shrwnsanPerforms as advertised, would recommendFor those looking into a cheap way to get traction on icy city streets, recommending Yaktrax ???????? They give you peace of mind that you’ll be okay going up/down crazy inclined, icy or black-iced streets. It’s also automatic for packed snow trails.
Not to mention, your boots or sneakers don’t get F’d up. I can say they got the job done without messing up these Reds during our trip earlier this year. They’re also easy to put on (probably just need a stable seat at least). - Lori MarranGreat product for walking on ice.Great product that works well on ice and snow.
- Rah-RahLife- saver on black iceI recently had both knees replaced and I'm afraid of falling and wanted to keep a pair of these in my car. We had the first snow storm of the season and these were truly a lifesaver. When I got to work the parking lot was black ice, I could not get any traction and my foot was sliding all over just trying to get out of my car. I put on these yaktrax and I could safely stand on the ice and get inside the building without any slipping or sliding. Once inside I was able to take them off easily and get to my office. These are truly a great safety item everyone needs who lives in snow/icy winters.
- CharlesGreat alterative to expensive/sharp cramp-ons, but don't last longWe recently traveled to Iceland during the winter and these were absolutely invaluable -- from hiking to just walking around town, our Yaktrax kept us stable and upright. We both fell down at different times when we weren't wearing them. As long as we had these on our feet, we were both as stable and comfortable as could be.
The only issue we both faced was longevity. Toward the end of our week-long trip, both our pairs of Yaktrax started to break apart. My wife's completely disappeared on a return hike from a glacier overlook, and mine broke apart and wrapped around my ankles during a hike to a hotsprings. We were able to find a local store that carried them for quick replacements for the last day of our trip, but it was disappointing they didn't last and failed so suddenly and catastrophically.
These are a great alternative to heavier spike cramp-ons. They are easier and safer to pack and carry; and easier to put on and take off. However, the trade-off appears to be longevity. If you are going to rely on these for a trip, bring a backup pair! - Carolina ValenzuelaThey work perfectlyThey work great for snow, I still need to try them on icy ground but I can definitely feel the grip. I was able to put them on my Timberland waterproof boots and they stayed on perfectly. I’m 8.5 and wear small
- Amazon CustomerConvenient & effectiveTemporarily attaches to almost any shoe/boot. Solid traction on ice and snow. If I avoid walking on exposed concrete, I get 3-4 years service. (Concrete can degrade the wire traction coils.)
- Amazon CustomerNo worries shovelingA few years ago, I slipped twice while shoveling. I purchased these and haven't had any more issues. They are easy to put on and takeoff.
- BoykinWork well but can slip on glare ice.Work well, for the most part. They will slip on glare ice. But I use them because other traction devises with spikes can scratch and dent floors in your house or car. Am disappointed with their durability. I will go through a pair per winter season.
