- Jen OddoA paranormal holiday romance that’s binge worthy!Good Spirits is a paranormal holiday romance that’s binge worthy! With grumpy sunshine, forced proximity, and characters you can’t help but love, this book was everything! I couldn’t help myself and was screaming and cackling with laughter! If you adore holiday books, definitely put this one on your tbr, you have to meet Nolan and Harriet!
Nolan was the Ghost of Christmas Past. And Harriet was his new job. From their first meeting, I was laughing out loud. But Nolan lived such a lonely life. Nobody would remember him, except his current assignment, and other ghosts in the area. And as we got to know him, we saw that he had a heart of gold. I loved how he would calm Harriet, but also how he could be playful and fun! But Nolan didn’t care about others. Except with Harriet….he couldn’t help himself. Her touch warmed his heart. And she gave him hope too.
While Harriet’s family seemed to walk all over her, I loved that she could be bold with Nolan. Telling him that he couldn’t just appear, and had to knock on her door instead ha, I adored her! As we got to travel to her past, my heart broke for her. She just wanted to be loved for who she was. And no one seemed to see her. Until Nolan.
I suppose I always have believed in Christmas magic.
The moment you could feel the sexual tension between them I was wondering…. is this allowed to happen? A human and a ghost?! Because even Nolan seemed to be wary. But they both felt so alone. Unloved. And the more time they spent together, their friendship developed so effortlessly. When events happened that shook up the status quo, I didn’t know what they could mean. But with sexy dreams, steamy hot kisses, snow flakes swirling and intimate scenes that will have you melting, I was lost in them . And I was rooting for their HEA!
Good Spirits was a little bit of a slow start for me, but once it got going I was obsessed. And this book made me smile so much! There were so many details that made me fall in love with this story. Like Nolan bringing Harriet drinks, to learning that he knit. To Harriet’s candy hoarding ways, and her pjs that I desperately wanted to own! These characters leaped from the pages and I loved how their story unfolded. The ending left me so happy and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series! - ShelbyBent edgeReceived book with bottom right corner folded backwards. Included cover and several pages. Package was not bent, so it must have been done before or while the book was being placed inside the package.
- AlohaDEmotional, nostalgic and filled with hopeOMG! Good Spirits screams winter holiday goodness. Cozy, sweet, nostalgic, emotional and magical. I couldn't put this audiobook down! The way Karissa Vacker and Will Walt gave life to Harriet and Nolan was truly special. I found myself mesmerized with their accents (Walt) and the emotional pull brought to their performances each time they visited the past. If there is one book I'd recommend this holiday season, THIS would be it!
Good Spirits is a Dickens retelling of sorts. With a ghost of "Christmas past" visiting Harriet, an antique store owner that is perpetually a people pleaser, Harriet doesn't know what to make of it all. But Nolan is a lonely, touch-starved grumpy ghost that is sent to show her of her wrong doings in the past and hopefully they both can move forward once they figure it out. But what sort of bad thing could Harriet have done when she is all sweet and goodness? What transpires is visits to the past and soon seeing how Nolan and Harriet's pasts collide in the most unique and endearing way.
B.K. Borison created something special, emotional and oh so sweet with Nolan and Harriet and I loved seeing how their souls connected. I'm not always a paranormal type reader, but this story carried the essence of the holidays, while bringing us healing and hope, desire and romance all wrapped into one.

'Remember this...Remember him.' - stacyA cozy Christmas Romance with a magical twist!Overall rating: 4.5/5

Christmas-iness: 5/5
I only read contemporary romance at Christmas time, the rest of the year it’s Romantasy, Paranormal Romance, etc. This book straddles the line between Holiday Romance and Paranormal Romance, but it feels more like a traditional Christmas Romance with just enough magic to make it stand apart.
Nolan has been a ghost of Christmas Past since he died 100 years ago. It’s a pretty boring afterlife, but he has no idea how to move on. Then he’s assigned to Harriet, the sweet, people-pleasing owner of an antique shop. He’s used to haunting terrible people and with every trip into the past it’s clearer she’s not one. Then his magic starts to go wonky.
This isn’t so much of a Christmas Carol retelling as a universe where there are thousands of Christmas Carols happening every year and this is one that goes side-ways. The ghosts/spirits in this world are completely corporeal, they walk around humans all the time, but the humans don’t pay them any attention or remember them. They have magic but only to complete their assigned tasks.
This is a book about loneliness, which should strike a chord at this time of year. Harriet is semi-estranged from her horrible family. Her mother is so bad I found myself fantasizing about her getting the full scrooge treatment.
Harriet’s family aside, all the characters are lovable and heart-wrenching. The magic system/world building is simple and easily understood. Even my mother, who hates “weird” fantasy elements could get into this. The focus is the characters, the romance and the holiday.
Cautions: There's very little in this to worry about. There is spice, but it’s pretty tame, nothing excessive. Maybe be wary if you have a fear of drowning. They visit Nolan’s death day.
I’d recommend this for anyone looking for a sweet and poignant holiday read with a dash of fantasy. I’d especially recommend the audiobook. Nolan’s Irish accent is to die for.
