The Eye of the Bedlam Bride is the 6th book in the LitRPG series Dungeon Crawler Carl. It’s the 8th floor and it’s a twisted card-based game. Carl and Princess Donut must capture six monsters into card that they will use to fight others to get to the next level. (It’s like the Pokemon Trading Card Game if you had to capture the Pokemon yourself first.) But some monsters have their own agenda and the Bedlam Bride herself Shi Maria has her eyes on Carl.
This was another fantastic entry to the series. I thought the card-based system this level would be a let down after the bombastic previous levels. I think I was right at points, but what it delivered instead was just so much emotions. With a less involved game mechanism this time around, it allowed for more storytelling and the few plotlines—both the over-arching ones and ones isolated here—really shined in its depth and feels. I teared up several times. Don’t get me wrong though. The book is ridiculously over-the-top and jam-packed with action and its characteristic humor. There’s just way more heart as well.
The Eye of the Bedlam Bride continues the streak of each subsequent Dungeon Crawler Book being better than the last. - Bethany SalasFANTASTIC!!!!When is book 7! I need it immediately!
Ok. So I wasn't too sure how I felt about going into the "memory" phases. Being back "on earth" definitely gave this book a different vibe. Especially in the beginning. I'm a visual reader so I picture everything I'm reading. And I cpjld feel the Havana heat on my skin (very well written) but then the fantasy side of the dungeon creeps in and it felt... odd. But only for a few pages then it found its rythm and felt normal which... I don't even know how to feel about that lol
Katia's secret problem while enlightening into her past alittle but, I hate that's where she's at and I know what has to happen now to release her from it and I know it's NOT going to be pleasant. I cried reading this book... which surprised me a bit.
Samantha has really "fleshed" out quite a bit and I'm really loving her as a character.
There's alot of rewards and such happening with Carl and Donut and and I really did feel like there wasn't a whole lot of focus on that this book, partly because of the AI being what it is now but it felt like they were just tooooo busy to make much use of what they were getting. So when Spider chip took over for a few and got into Carl's inventory.... I actually felt like it rushed to give a reason for Carl to make sense of his inventory better. Like... she's not going to be a major part of him Maki the most of it. And honestly I'm not mad at it. I think she's an interesting character
Now the AI... His whole arc is awesome. I'm loving it. I do miss his funnier achievements and rewards descriptions. Him becoming self aware, seems to have dulled his sense of humor but considering what all he just discovered.... I wpuldnt have much of one either I supose. I do enjoy seeing him actually enjoy his new found powers though. Almost like a toddler that just discovered he came juggle chainsaws.
Ok so there's sooooo much happening in this boom. Like so so much. I could talk for days about this book and years about this series and I only started reading it less than a month ago and I've FLOWN through them and done a reread 3 times. That being said....
This ending is incredible and has me going bananas for the next one. I wasn't sure where this one was gonna go but now I'm losing it like an addiction for the next because the set up was perfect. Now I know EXACTLY who and what the waste management sponsor and team and ship is... I'm losing it ???????????? hands down the best damn surprise ever
And I feel foolish that I hadn't figured it out (because I'm reeeeally good at that) but that's what makes u such an amazing writer. You pack so much in with just enough happening to keep you both highly engaged in the storyline and distracted just enough to miss the clues. Because they were there. Dusted through out. And I missed it all the way to the last few paragraphs and my body exploded in goosebumps and I swore loudly lol
Matt, I don't know if you read these but you've made this frustrating part of my life so much easier to get through. I'm recently disabled and we have no idea why and I stare at the same 4 walls day in and out. I'm a very actively lively person and I loved my life and enjoyed living life and now I'm trapped in a bed 24/7 since Feb. And I'm alone mostly. These books have kept me going, given me hope and I relate to them.more than I care to admit. I refuse to let myself think "this is my life now" , I keep telling myself I'll figure it the hell out and I'll be back on my feet. And hopefully that's true. But thankfully, for now at leaselt, I don't feel so trapped here. I get to explore this terrifying and amazing world in the dungeon with amazing friends and family In the characters you've created. So thanks for giving me these guys, they keep me going.. I just need more of them asap lol so get to writing and I'll be ready for the next one soon as it hits!
And I promise I won't kill your mother if it takes too long lol
-Bethany - Amazon CustomerHow dare this book make me sob like a baby. This book series has been a breath of fresh air. The first couple books were just straight up goofy fun, then it started to weave some character arcs and team dynamics into it. Now, there are some heavy themes about humanity, relationships, trauma, etc. I SOBBED during and after Carl fought the boss at the trailer. The audacity of this book for being so good. This is one of the best book series I've read. The writing is top notch, the humor is relevant and topical, and the themes are hard hitting. If Princess Donut isn't the epitome of a character arc, I don't know what is. I even love Samantha. If you don't like this book, I will kill your mother. (This is obviously a joke, and a line from the book!)
