- Henri SavinMaybe The Weeknd's best album so far.The WeeKnd is no stranger to hits but I think he got into a goldmine with this album. 18 tracks and they are all pretty fantastic since I never felt the need of skipping any track. I actually get disappointed when I reach the end of the album because it was too short. Here is the detail of my review on each one.
1. Starboy (feat. Daft Punk) – 5 Stars
The collaboration between The Weeknd and Daft Punk is a clear hit. Both influences are merging wonderfully well. Excellent infra-bass and melody from TW.
2. Party Monster – 5 Stars
An Hypnotic song. TW’s voice is so good that it is all we need for melody, regardless of the background beats or sounds. It is quite impressive because the musical production is excellent.
3. False Alarm
This song is very interesting in the sense that it alternates between melodic and frantic, with shouts. Not the easiest to like at first but now I like it very much. 4 stars.
4. Reminder
A more laid back track than the previous one with still lots of infra-bass and alternating almost rapping and singing style. 5 stars.
5. Rockin’
A tune to dance on… TW has really found the best way to build hits. This track is a solid 5 stars.
6. Secrets
This song is constantly in my head right now. “I hear the secrets that you keep, when you are talking in your sleep” ; Hawaiian guitars. This track could have been written in the 80’s. 5 stars.
7. True Colors
This track is very reminiscent of the first album. I always love the slow pace that allows the melody to set in nicely. I am almost hearing Michael Jackson’s voice in that song. Definitely one of my favorite of the album. 5 stars…
8. Stargirl interlude (Feat. Lana Del Rey)
Excellent featuring of Lana Del Rey. That song rocks! It gives me chills when I hear her voice. Excellent chorus sung by TW. It is simply too short so I need to put it in loop to enjoy it enough. 5 stars.
9. Sidewalks (feat. Kendrick Lamar)
Kendrick Lamar is my favorite rapper since a few years now so when he is guesting on TW’s album, it can only result in an excellent track. TW is using a bit of the autotune on this track but for the best effect. 5 stars.
10. Six Feet under
The chorus is excellent… I do not know who is featuring on this song (Future?) but it is another excellent track. 5 stars.
11. Love to Lay
Another very characteristic track by TW. 4 stars.
12. A lonely Night
Another track that give 80’s feel of what Funk music was about. 5 stars.
13. Attention
I love when the tracks are not as danceable and more setting up a mood. This track is right in between the two. His voice is again perfectly posed on the track. 5 stars.
14. Ordinary Life
Another hypnotic song by TW. Excellent! 5 stars.
15. Nothing Without You
Another of my favorites in that album and when you see the rating I gave tracks so far, it means something. Always the presence of Infra-Bass to support his amazing voice and an addictive melody. 5 stars.
16. All I know (feat. Future)
I am running our of superlatives ???? . Excellent featuring of Future who brings some Rap/Dub into this song. 5 stars.
17. Die for You
The quality does not go down when one nears the end of the album. TW is a hit machine. 5 stars.
18. I feel it coming (feat. Daft Punk)
An excellent way to end the album with a way to sing that really reminds me of Michael Jackson. The production by Daft Punk is simply excellent. 5 stars.
In conclusion: This is maybe the best album so far by The Weeknd. Warmly recommended. 5 stars. - Stella CarrierAmusingI am glad that this music collection of the Starboy by the Weeknd is available with an Amazon music subscription because it was listening to it through my subscription that influenced me to take a chance on purchasing the mp3 collection. Additionally, my husband likes Selena Gomez which I admit also indirectly influenced me to get this collection. Anyhow, like many others, I do enjoy the Starboy and Feel It Coming songs. However, this is also a collection where a person could also enjoy other songs on this collection due to the sense that much creative effort was put into each of the songs. I also like the Stargirl interlude that Weeknd featured with Lana Del Rey. Last, but not least, one of the other multiple reasons why I am glad to have obtained this collection is due to the thrilling club/dance vibe of many of the songs on this collection. Starboy by the Weeknd is also a perfect collection to get if you are familiar with his Worth It song from the Fifty Shades of Grey movie soundtrack andor his Can't Feel My Face song (due to the vibe of this music collection being in a similar playful manner as those songs).
- Amazon CustomerLoveA classic.
- Custie from ChucoVisually appealingSon loved the anesthetic value with this item!
- CharlitosI absolutely love this albumI absolutely love this album. I had heard of The Weeknd before, but never paid much mind to it. It wasn't until I heard the songs ft. Daft Punk that I was truly interested, being a Daft Punk fan from long ago.
I am truly surprised at how awesome this album sounds. I can only describe it as an album that has it's throw backs to the 80s and definitely has a Michael Jackson feel to it on some tracks.
Starboy is just a great song with a great hook and catch. I haven't tired of it yet after a few months. At first, I disliked False Alarm, but it grew on me quite a bit. Rockin' has an 80s feel, but Secrets is the real 80s feel song, as it samples from a Tears for Fears track. Love To Lay and A Lonely Night are both great tracks as well. The final song though, I Feel It Coming is probably my favorite song. When I first heard the song, it reminded me so much of Michael Jackson and when I played it for a friend, they asked me which Michael Jackson song it was.
I definitely recommend this album and it was worth the money I paid for it for all the hours of enjoyment I've obtained from it. - Daniel A. JanuszkoSounds goodNice recording
- shaniceNo skipsHe really did his big one. Metro booming was really making some drums “ iykyk” but this was a great buy. I been a fan since 2010 I feel like this was his best album
