Variable speed. It's dust collection is fantastic.
There is almost zero dust left when connected to a vacuum. I have not run it without the vacuum much. Connection for vacuum hose was included.
My only minimal negative is the vacuum attachment comes off easier than I would like. This is usually cause I snagged the hose on a corner or something.

I upgraded from a really old ryobi that I loved but that had stopped working and the difference was insane. The dust collector works well, the sander has some heft to it but isn’t too heavy to use, and it takes wood off really quickly. I’m in love
- Nate B.Looked and ran like new!Just received mine, looked brand new, is way quieter then my 1/4 sheet sander, which was about the same price. I just spent an hour working though grits 60 to 220 on some projects I've been avoiding and it was awesome. Hopefully it holds up, I'll adjust my review if an update is needed. The built in filter is a little hard to open, going to switch to the vacuum attachment I think.

- Nurse BillWhat's the difference? Works like new.I couldn't be happier with this sander. It came with 5 sanding disks and a canvas carry bag. Great quality. Runs and looks like new. I have been using it to sand my deck so I have plenty of experience (I can't speak to its long-term but I know that the short term is bright!).

- Zakir L. HensonRandom Orbit is Nonexistant.I have an older random orbit sander, but I wanted one that was lighter and easy on the hands. This sander is certainly the best sander on the hands I've ever used. Unfortunately, the orbiting mechanism is all but worthless. I returned one because I thought it was faulty. Now I think the entire design is faulty.
- AlThe refurbished unit makes a bit of an odd noise but seems to work fine....I like the bosch Sanders so much that I now have two of them. Feels good in your hand and sands very well.
