5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Game For Kids Traveling By Air
Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2013
I can not understand some of the negative reviews for Dr. Panda,s Airport.
I have had NO NAGS FOR REVIEWS.
I have NOT BEEN DIRECTED TO JAPANESE YOU-TUBE.
You do not need to be connected to a network to play this game.

I currently have 9 of the Dr. Panda games. I think that Dr. Panda games are among the best, if not the best, of this type. Dr. Panda games are the favorite with 4yr. old kids who use my tablet. The Dr. Panda games are highly entertaining and usually interactive. These games also have educational value for children. I have NOT had a problem with nags or redirects in any of the Dr. Panda games.

Thank You Amazon for making this game available for free today as the FAOTD! This was quite a pleasant surprise, which made me happy. I almost purchased this game yesterday (In which case, I would not have been happy to find it free today).

The opening screen of Dr. Panda has a button labelled: "For parents". The opening screen also has a link to "More games!" (THIS BUTTON CAN BE EASILY DISABLED). Tapping either of the above buttons, first takes you to a screen where you have to tap multiple (2 to 5) times to proceed. All of the screens in Dr. Panda have the same music.

The "More games!" button gives you a screen with internet links to the other Dr. Panda games, as well as the option to subscribe to a newsletter. The "More games!" button is easily disabled by going into the "For parents" section and turning off the "Show promotion screen" option. That's it. After doing this, the opening screen will only have the option to start the game or go into the "For parents" section.

    Now for the bad stuff:
If you go into the section clearly labelled "For parents" and tap the button to "Review us", you will be nagged for a review.
If you go into the section clearly labelled "For parents" and tap the button to "subscribe" to the newsletter, you will have subscribed.
If you go into the section clearly labelled "For parents" and tap the button to "Like" on Facebook, you will be bothered by Facebook.
If you go into the section clearly labelled "For parents" and keep the option to "Show promotion screen", your children can access the "More games!" area (with internet links).
I haven,t read it (yet), but the icon to enter the game is an airplane outline (Go figure!). I,m sure some parent will say that this encourages his/her child to play with the airplane icon in network "settings".
Dr. Panda's Hospital has the panda as a doctor, not Dr. Panda's Airport. It appears as if this game is airport themed.

As others have noted, Dr. Panda's Airport seems to be more advanced than other Dr. Panda games. I think that this game goes at a slower pace than the other Dr. Panda games. I think that this is a good thing, as it can help children cope with all the waiting in airports nowadays (You will never see a scene like in the older movies where you can get out of the taxi 3 minutes before your flight and run through the airport, past security, carrying an armful of luggage, unto your plane. Did I forget to mention that since it is winter, you don't take off your ski mask until you are comfortably in your seat on the plane.).

This game can help children become acquainted with airport check-in procedures. This includes security screening. Some people might be upset at the items shown (people do shave with something you know), but this is nothing compared to what can be seen in the dump bins at actual airports. I guess you will just have to make sure that your children never see what is actually confiscated. I was surprised by the bottle opener and the analog watch (I worked at a school that had an analog clock in every room, yet the people were asking me what the time was, as they could not read an analog clock). I'm sure some parents will have to explain to their children about bottle openers (It's not for soda pop).

This game is not for "tapaholic" children. You have to think about what you are doing. This is not a difficult game, but frantic tapping will not get you through this game. As I mentioned previously, I think that this is better for children in waiting lines and waiting areas. This game will also help children behave in a more patient manner. If you are blessed with hyper-active children and think that everyone around you should share in the joy of your hyper-active children, this game is probably not for you (unless you want your phone used as a hockey puck).

I think that Dr. Panda's Airport is a very good game to help children become familiar with airports.
    And again:
Thank You Amazon for making this the FAOTD.

    Edited: 8/29/2013
Corrected a few typos and changed "pop" to "soda pop".

5.0 out of 5 stars Airport Success!
Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2013
I bought this for my 3 year old grandson on the first day it was available last week. He has all the other Dr. Panda games and loves them all. Although he can play them and enjoy them now at age three, I can see that there is a lot more in the games that he is not utilizing at this time because of his age, which tells me that he'll be using these games for quite some time and by the time he's outgrown them, his little brother can use them.

All of the Dr. Panda games are not only entertaining and enjoyable by kids and parents alike, they are also quite educational. I only wish this particular title had been available earlier when we were looking for something to prepare my grandson for his first airplane trip. This would have been wonderful as it goes through all aspects of an airplane trip!

Highly recommend this. We use it on my Kindle Fire with Kindle Free Time so there are never any issues of going from this app to the internet or any place that I have not pre-approved! Great pair!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, engaging, and high-quality!

As a babysitter, when I saw this listed as free, I decided to take it for a spin. Upon opening the app, the first thing that came to mind was the graphics, bright colours, smooth interface, well-designed. I opened the game and the only issue I had was some confusion of what to tap. There was such flexibility of what you can do. Every game was simple yet engaging. Then came the real test. Two kids I was babysitting this afternoon, one seven, one three. They absolutely loved it. Their favourite parts were putting stickers on the suitcase and lost and found. It was an excellent game to keep them occupied while I was preparing lunch. All in all, definitely worth it. Once I get more money on my Kindle Fire, I look forward to purchasing other Dr. Panda apps.

5.0 out of 5 stars This app, along with all Dr. Panda apps, are part of our homeschool day.

My two year old has learned so much from Dr. Panda (in conjunction with skills taught in our school environment). From numbers to matching, the mini games in this app are exciting and age-appropriate, allowing preschoolers to grasp the basic concepts while having fun. Kids will learn without realizing how much they are learning! I add Dr. Panda apps into our homeschooling lessons because it is a fun way to let my son have a "break" from school work while still learning. I love that it reinforced numbers, letters, dialing a phone, and more. This would be a great app to purchase if you're doing airline travel this holiday season.

4.0 out of 5 stars Their most involved app yet!
Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2013
I have purchased all of the Dr. Panda games for my daughter, and I don't even bother getting the free versions, as I know these will entertain her. She loves them all! She loves being able to show me that she can do everything herself and having me get involved once she is a pro!

Okay, so here is the deal with this particular app from Dr. Panda. It is their most involved app yet, but don't let that stop you from getting it. There are few things to know first:

Age: I personally would not recommend this app for 3 and under and maybe some 4 year olds. My daughter is in preschool so she was learning her ABC's and 123's, and your child needs to recognize and be able to match them in order to play this one. You can still have them play it, but i think they will get frustrated because it is more advanced.

Gameplay: This app is pretty cool, the different aspects of the airport that they can interact with are really cute. I personally like the lost and found, but the problems my daughter had came with calling on the telephone(you have to type in the number pad the numbers shown) and it was kind of difficult for her at first without just pressing everything just for fun, AND the dropping off at the gates. Each character shows what gate they want dropped off at, and you have to stop the cart at the right one.

Overall it is an awesome game and my daughter loves it, but it is the hardest one yet, and some people who are used to the other Dr. Panda apps might get upset that this one exceeded the gameplay of the other ones.
