- SharkieshaHome Edition Does Not DisappointJust popped the DVD of Top Gun: Maverick in and it still is great even in my living room instead of the theater. The flying scenes and jet action are still breathtaking, and the story keeps you hooked from start to finish.
Watching it at home makes it perfect for re-watches or sharing with friends/family. The drama, the suspense, and even the humor come through nicely. If you loved this movie in theaters (or even if you’re new to it), getting it on DVD is totally worth it.
Bottom line: awesome movie, great way to enjoy it again and im definitely glad I bought it. - PaulTop Gun: Maverick (4K UHD): The Gold Standard for Home TheaterI’m running a 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos system built around ELAC Debut 2.0 speakers powered by a Denon AVR-X4500H, with external amps and Top Gun: Maverick instantly became my go-to reference disc. This 4K Blu-ray looks and sounds absolutely stunning — the kind of experience that reminds you why physical media still matters.
The Dolby Atmos TrueHD mix is incredibly clean, immersive, and natural. It’s not artificially loud like some other discs, but that’s part of what makes it so good. At reference level (0.0 dB) it can sound a little soft, but around +2 to +4 dB above reference, the entire soundstage opens up — jets thunder overhead, dialogue locks perfectly to the screen, and bass hits deep and tight without boominess.
Here’s something a lot of people overlook: mixes like Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and DTS-HD Master Audio are mastered for large cinema spaces, so they sometimes need a small volume bump at home to reach full theatrical impact. By contrast, hotter mixes like Jurassic Park (4K DTS:X) or Ready Player One (Dolby Atmos) already hit full intensity right at reference level.
Visually, the HDR10 transfer is razor sharp with incredible contrast and color depth. Streaming can’t touch this disc — most “4K Dolby Vision” streams are heavily compressed, running a fraction of the bitrate of a 4K Blu-ray. The difference in both picture and sound is night and day.
If you’ve got a solid AVR and relatively efficient speakers, you don’t need to worry about turning it up a few decibels above reference level as modern receivers handle it easily.
Bottom line: Top Gun: Maverick is not just a great movie — it’s a system demo and a gold standard reference disc.

- J. BurbaTop Gun: Maverick – A New Hope With Jets and Daddy IssuesAt this point, let’s just admit Top Gun: Maverick is the best Star Wars movie Disney never made.
You’ve got your aging rogue pilot who refuses to follow orders, a cocky new generation that doesn't believe in the Force (I mean, teamwork), and a mission so suicidal even the ghost of Obi-Wan is like, “You sure about this?”
The plot? Simple. Fly down a narrow trench at impossible speed, dodge lasers (missiles, but let’s not kid ourselves), and drop a perfect shot into a tiny exhaust port. You know, totally original. Definitely not a Death Star run. And yet… it’s brilliant.
This isn’t about realism. If it was, Maverick’s bones would be dust after that first blast. That man yeeted himself out of a jet like a burnt marshmallow and somehow limped into a diner like, “You got pie?”
Plot armor level: Beskar.
But it’s earned. Every note — from the roaring engines to the slow piano of nostalgia — hits with just the right amount of cheese, heart, and adrenaline. And the moment those jets take off? You feel it. Like your couch just ejected you emotionally at 7.5 Gs.
Is it predictable? Sure.
Did I care? Absolutely not.
By the time that final landing hits, you're not rolling your eyes — you're saluting the screen like Maverick just bought you a beer.
Final Transmission:
Top Gun: Maverick is loud, absurd, and so damn sincere it makes you believe in heroes again. It’s a love letter to speed, sacrifice, and the art of saying, “Screw the odds — I’ll make the shot anyway.”
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Five stars. Would follow this man into the sky, the trench, or even another sequel.
Just… maybe not into space.
Love ya, Tom — but I’ve seen your interviews. - PDCreativeThis is a great movie!I didn’t think the original Top Gun could be topped, but it has. This sequel is even better than the first!
- NonieGreat movie!Never a dull moment in this classic!! ❤️
- FinchGood reboot of top gun. Worth the buyA solid remake. Great effects and airplanes dogfights etc. You need to or should watch the original before seeing this one though. There are a lot of Easter eggs and references throughout that may not be as memorable if you didn’t see the original. That and the basic plot are the only reasons I docked it a star.
