- Brooke MAmazing audiobook.I decided to listen to the graphic audio of The Book of Azrael, along with a reread of the series, prior to the release of Wrath.
Best decision.
This was my first audiobook, not just graphic, first ever. Again, best decision.
Adding the graphic element to Amber's word building and quick, witty banter was the icing on the cake. The casting was perfection. Marissa Clay brought Dianna's fiery personality to life, and she nailed the delivery of her quips at Liam. I was giggling at their interactions, as well as much of her internal dialogue. Gabriel Michael as Samkiel needs no further explanation. And Rayner Gabriel as Kaden had me feeling things for the "badboy" | shouldn't.
The wait for the second half is going to be almost as brutal as the wait for the rest of the series. If I weren't a fan before, this solidified the fact. - Golda S.Soooo good!!I had already read the book, and listening to this was just a whole other experience!! And Gabrielle as Liam... chef's kiss ????

Gods and Monsters, book 1
Graphic Audio, full cast including Gabriel Michael and Marissa Clay as MMC and FMC
The whole cast did a great job with this performance! For those not familiar with Graphic Audio, the book is performed with different narrators for each voice along with sound effects and music! It's a great time and the narrators really bring these charters to life and give them so much emotion! And I am on a quest to listen to everything thing Gabriel Michael has narrated, so there's that!
Dual POV, enemies to lovers, mental health rep, morally grey FMC, will do anything for sister, slow burn turns spicy, god MMC who just wants to be left alone, they are both powerful, gods and vampiric shapeshifters, banter, betrayal, monsters, high stakes, touch her/him and find out, both jealous and possessive, so much betrayal, cliffhanger!
Dianna does whatever is demanded of her to keep her sister safe. And as much as she hates who she is and what she has done, it is all worth it for Gabby. But when she runs into a new threat, everything changes and she turns on the one who has controlled her for so long. Samkiel was supposed to be gone, but now he is begrudgingly here and not happy about it. Dianna makes a new deal to ensure her sister's safety in return for helping him take down her previous master. But can she trust him as they scramble to reach a powerful relic before their enemies do?
This book is action packed and had me on the edge of my seat! I love that Dianna is strong and powerful but that she meets her match with Samkiel. As he does with her. Her banter and him learning it (he has not been around so is learning the modern world) is humorous and while a wanted to knock their heads together a few times, I adored their falling for each other! I also liked that Samkiel wasn't perfect and put together, but also had his own mental health issues to deal with. The ending had me staring at the wall and also scrambling to get to the next book! - BB & Her Shadow Kissed Chronicles???? Highly recommend. Headphones on. Emotions not protectedListening to The Book of Azrael in dramatized audio form was an experience - the kind that makes it impossible to multitask because the story demands your full attention.
This format brings the world to life in a completely different way. The layered sound design, distinct character voices, and emotional delivery elevate everything: the tension, the danger, the banter, the quieter moments that hit you right in the chest. Gods, monsters, vampires, fates - every creature and every power feels present, not just described.
Dianna especially shines in audio. Her strength, sarcasm, protectiveness, and buried compassion come through so clearly that she feels real - fierce and lethal one moment, painfully human the next. And Samkiel? His voice alone explains why he belongs in the book husband category. The restraint, the power, the underlying conflict - it all lands harder when you hear it.
The pacing in audio is addictive. Scenes bleed into each other seamlessly, the action feels sharper, and the emotional moments linger longer. I caught myself saying “okay, just one more scene” far too many times - only to realize I was hours deep.
And the villain?
Hearing him is somehow worse - colder, crueler, and genuinely unsettling. That quiet menace translates terrifyingly well in audio.
If you’re someone who loves full immersion, dramatized audiobooks, or just wants to experience this story in a way that feels cinematic and intense - this is absolutely the format to try. - Andrea GriggsAbsolutely Fantastic! This is an ARC review. I want to thank Amber V. Nicole and RBmedia for allowing me the chance to fully immerse myself in my favorite series! This is my first graphic audio and I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to listen to a regular audio again. The cast of narrators did such a fantastic job I truly thought I was watching a movie.
Dianna is by far my ultimate favorite FMC of all time! Dianna the Bloodthirsty Queen is one of the last Ig’Morruthens to live but is under thumb Of another. With everything she has lived through in her very long lifetime she still has fight within her to stand up for herself and her sister. Her love for her sister makes me wish I had a sister! She has a sharp tongue that is hilarious to most but will get her in trouble with the wrong person. Such has Liam/Samkiel.
Samkiel who now goes by Liam is the World Ender and does not care for Dianna’s secrets and sharp tongue. After some torture…they finally come to a truce to work together. While it is a truce to keep her sister safe she and Samkiel find a common ground of being able to lean on each other.
I will absolutely be continuing to listen to part 2! This graphic audio has truly changed the way I plan on reading going forward. I am so glad I was able to immerse myself into this magical world. - Rachel CombsIcing on the cakeThis is my favorite series ever. This audio was just the icing on the cake for me. It’s beautiful and perfect and I wouldn’t change a thing. Amber V. Nicole really knows how to capture the audience with her writing and she’s chosen amazing voice actors for this edition. Bravo ????????
