5.0 out of 5 stars Super Great Read!

Wow where do I begin? This book was written absolutely beautifully. Jill did an Amazing job writing her story. It so touched my heart. I love that she was not afraid to speak truth. Reading this book so helped me by confirming things in my own life that has happened with some church religious beliefs. I love how she didn't loose her faith in the deception but instead came out strong I love that!

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing testimony

This was a story needed to be written. I found it therapeutic and beautiful. I never watched the TLC show but did know of the Duggers from reading some of their other books and the news. I found the raw emotion written here very enlightening on family dynamics. No family is perfect. Jill is a very talented author and her book reads like a testimony worth knowing. As a parent of grown children I appreciate her candor about what she needed from her parents. I hope writing this memoir gives Jill the voice she deserves to be heard and that she can have peace. I pray for their family to have healing and restoration. This is a lesson for every parent, that our story goes beyond the here and now.

4.0 out of 5 stars better than expected

I was actually really surprised and riveted by this book. It’s thoughtful and well written, and reveals so much about life with trauma and the complexities of family - loving them, being mad at them, building boundaries, still loving them.

It makes me so sad to think about those kids, but I really admire both Jill and Derick for taking the time to find out what really matters to them. I hope they can enjoy some privacy now, though I realize the slight hypocrisy in sharing their story now for money - but I also think Jill needed to reclaim the narrative.

The honesty and integrity of this story are inspiring. I greatly admire Jill's courage in breaking free from the fear and control that dominated her past. She tells the story, however, in a way that shows the love and respect she holds for her parents, and honors the positive childhood events and memories which helped to make her the beautiful person she is today.

5.0 out of 5 stars ...for the understanding...

This is a great book to hear Jill's personal story. As we know, reality TV does not depict real life in its true form. Editing can spin stories in any direction. Jill is honest in her book and you can hear her voice as you read this book. Her story gives a truthful look inside Dugger life.

It is an easy read. The book is a hardcover with a slip page over top. The paper stock is very good. In whole, of great quality for your invested purchase. If you have ever watched any of the TV shows over the years I would recommend this read. It brings in much understanding.

Love Jill’s authenticity, vulnerability, and the love she has for her family despite everything that’s happened. She was real and fair but also humble and kind. Beautiful example of a Christian woman full of grace.

I never watched any of the television series about this family. Honestly I am not completely sure why I read it. The boom is compelling because you just can't figure out why the father would take so much financially from his children al! In the name of God. I think he is a complete sham. Thank the Lord that some of his children have gotten away from their parents. Don't even get me started on the son.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, wonderful work, Jill & Derick!

This book is a beautifully written account of Jill’s experiences, the good and the bad. It’s easy to view their family as simply a spectacle that exists purely for the sake of entertainment, but it’s important to remember that these are real people, with real feelings. I was moved to tears as Jill was able to find her own voice and her own path while maintaining her faith. Derick, you are a true hero. I wish you both and your children all the best!
