- T. NelsonInnovative Free-Floating Second Handle Makes Snow Shoveling Way Easier – A Game-Changer for My Back!Opening the box and assembling this snow shovel was kind of fun. I was surprised how the finished product functioned: the second handle is free-floating (adjustable along the shaft), so you basically get a standard one-handle shovel plus a movable grip for extra leverage.
This took a very short time to get used to — and wow, this design has merit! You can adjust how far down the handle the second grip sits based on your size and preference. It takes a minute to dial in the position perfectly, but then you're scooping up the snow and using the floating handle for additional leverage to fling it away with way less effort. I really like this innovative setup — it significantly reduced the strain of lifting and tossing, especially with our heavy, wet Northwest snow.
The 20” wide blade scoops plenty but is still manageable to lift, and the metal-covered leading edge is perfect for hacking at that tough frozen layer on driveways/paths. Assembly is simple, materials feel solid, and the overall weight is minimal. After several days of heavy use, it's held up great with no issues.
It might feel unusual at first if you're used to traditional shovels, but give it a try — your back will thank you ????! - Randy LaheyWorks well for now, question long-term durabilityJust used for the most recent 18" snowfall we just got. I also have a Snow Joe with a similar working principle so I was able to do a direct comparison. One benefit is has over the competition is that the handle completely folds flat making storage easiest. The swivel handle is mounted on a ring with allows it to swivel about the shaft of the shovel, allowing for a more natural movement and easing up on how much your wrist needs to twist to get through the shoveling movement. I also like the metal blade strip at the front of the shovel that actually does a good job lifting compacted snow and light ice from surfaces. With that said, all of the joints are plastic and while it works well today, I question that after numerous cold cycles and getting beat around that these hinges will last long-term. Comparatively, the Snow Joe is all metal and riveted with carriage bolts holding the handle and shovel body to the shaft. For a slight premium I think I'd rather get the more reputable (and proven) brand, but if you get this on a steep sale this may be a worthy consumable to last a season or two. With that in mind I'd strongly recommend a backup so you don't get stuck with a broken shovel.
- Angelique McCullersI don't think it will last one winterOkay I finally stop.being scared to try the snow shovel. It was easy to put together butthe extra little handle was confusing because it swivels. So when I have to shovel I don't have time to be testing stuff out, lol. I have A LOT of quality snow shovels but this ones quality seems less than. I don't feel it will last the entire season and also feel as if I have to be extra careful using it or it will break. I think you can find a better quality shovel for the price . Not worth the money to me and it wouldn't be my first or second choice either.
- ScottTwo handle design makes it easier to toss the snow out of the wayThis Snow Shovel has an interesting second handle. I had never used a shovel like this before so I was curious if it would work or was just a gimmick. That second handle actually makes tossing the snow to the side much easier. The shovel is very sturdy and it feels like it will last a long time. It's not very heavy but it definitely punches above its weight. The two handle design made it easy to use and it can be folded back for storage or hanging on a hook in the garage. Overall, I am very happy with how well this shovel is working and I am sold on the second handle design.
- JerrySNew Style Snow ShovelI live in Northern Ohio. Just a little South of Lake Erie. I know about snow. When I first saw this shovel, I thought it looked weird. After I thought about the shovel some more and also thought about my old man's back, I decided to give it a try. After using it, I will never be without one (or a very similar one) again. The smaller (shorter) handle in the front gives you incredible leverage. You do not have to bend over as much, and it takes very low effort to raise the shovel and move the snow. I couldn't believe how much easier it was to shovel those areas on my property where I need a shovel. Full disclosure, I'm not going to sell my snow blower. I like this shovel one heck a lot, but not quite that much.
The ease of use on this shovel rates 5-stars. My personal standard for a 5-star rating is if I can't think of anything I would do differently or improve. There is one small improvement that could be improved on this tool. It needs a spring-action clamp to secure the shorter handle when you aren't using it. The shovel I have will have that feature as soon as the clamp(s) arrive. - DjGame changer snow shovelI will admit when I first saw it I thought “it has 2 handles that’s stupid” but this shovel is incredible. Having the second handle redistributes the weight and even after shoveling snow with ice on top i wasn’t sore the next day. It also makes for much quicker shoveling. Definitely worth getting. It had to be assembled but assembled quickly. You’ll figure out the adjustment once you’re using it.
- Mary B.Shovel is OK, assist handle is pointlessWhat I liked:
Wide blade with metal edge
Sturdy shaft and main handle
What I didn't like:
Assist handle is not fixed in place
My take:
The shovel itself works fine, but the assist handle is almost useless. It's not fixed to the main shaft, instead the collar it is attached to can twist and slide up and down. I ended up removing it entirely.
