- Teddo CorbinInspiring storyHuge fan and love the book so far. Reading it takes me back to when I was there as well. Love his flow and his quirky personality. Truly a great read. Very informative and helpful. Great story and is inspiring
- Between the LinesEnjoyable bookA great experience. What to know about Japan and the Japanese people , food , customs, history of Japan.
Starting out with a teachers experience as a young person, then making documentation of life and traveling throughout different areas of Japan, through earthquakes, a missile flying overhead , lots more snow , and learning the language. Interesting book. - ChristianHighly recommendI really enjoyed this. There was a good pace throughout, and it definitely has Chris’s characteristic voice and humor. Laugh out loud funny at times. Also informative about life in Japan. But the most enjoyable aspect was his stories, putting you right there in that moment, and the very relatable hardships he had with such a big move to a different culture and country. I felt his anxiety in the initial pages, so acutely described, as I remembered how anxious I had been with my own big move. I love Chris Broad even more after reading this, and discovered some videos of his I hadn’t ever seen but went back to watch after reading references to it here. Highly recommend for anyone who is a fan, and for anyone interested in moving to a foreign country.
- Justin MGreat Read!As a fan of Chris's YouTube channel I found this book to be a great read. I read through this very quickly because I found it so engaging. Great stories and an interesting look into living and working in Japan as a foreigner. Highly recommend this for anyone interested in Japanese culture from a unique perspective.
- léo m.excellent book, highly recommendedI never read any book but I decided to try this one because I really love Chris’s YouTube channel and podcast .
I really enjoyed the book, very interesting, easy to read, funny, I felt like a friend told me a story !
Amazing book, I wish you all the best Chris :) - Frank's kindleInteresting and informativeLearned a lot about Japanese culture. Also learned a lot about Japan’s geological structure. Very highly recommended, especially for anyone interested in touring this ancient world.
- Sierra GibsonVery Entertaining! My boyfriend actually watches his YouTube Channel and bought his book recently, I’ve seen a couple of videos but wasn’t an avid watcher like my him.
I do love reading, though, so I picked up his book and in between buying it myself on Audible and listening on my drives to and from work, and switching to the physical book when I could, I found it extremely entertaining.
Very easy to follow, as well! Even though I mostly listened to the book, I found it very easy to recognize the names and cities he mentioned in the physical book as well, it’s very well written, sarcastic and witty. Highly recommend! Will be binge watching his YouTube channel now! - Erik JohansenFunny and InterestingI had many similar experiences living in Japan, this was really fun to read. This is probably the only book since high school that has kept my interest enough for me to finish it. Thanks for sharing about your life in Japan, Chris! Had me laughing a lot.
