What sets this tumbler apart is its intentional, minimalist design. Unlike my bulky 40oz Stanley, which frustratingly refuses to fit in my car’s cup holder, this sleek model slides in effortlessly. The engineering is also superior; the weight distribution remains balanced even when full. It avoids the top-heavy, cumbersome feel of other brands that are either too wide at the brim or excessively tall, making it a breeze to carry throughout the day.
The aesthetic is equally impressive, featuring a sophisticated, dark matte purple finish. Its thermal performance, however, is the real standout. During my most recent test, I poured in two refrigerated water bottles with no ice; the water remained crisp and cold for a full 48 hours, only beginning to lose its chill on the third day. I have no doubt that adding ice would extend its temperature retention even further.

Have a Stanley and a Yeti but the Simple Modern tumblers perform just as well, if not better for less money.
I can fill it with ice at 7:30 in the morning and continuously fill it with water all day. Ice lasts until about 4:30 before melting. It keeps my drinks cold in a hot car for hours.
The handle is large and fits my hand well. Love that I only have to turn the lid 90 degrees to secure it. Cool thing is, if it tips over, the water will only leak out the straw if it’s fairly full. Sometimes, the water doesn’t leak at all.
Bonus of the Simple Modern brand is that you get two straws so you have a backup! - JDPerfect for my smoothies!My doctor has put me on a healthier diet, and that's meant making smoothies for breakfast. But my mornings are always rushed, so I like to take my smoothie to work with me instead of trying to drink it while getting ready. The problem is that my thick, semi-frozen smoothie will melt a bit on my drive in, so I needed a good cup to keep it nice and chilled. I wasn't planning on spending this much, but after reading complaints about other, less expensive cups leaking, not insulating well, etc, I started looking at Stanley and Simple Modern cups. And though I've always liked the Stanley brand, I refuse to be part of the image-centric crowd that has just now discovered them. So Simple Modern was left as the best option.
I wasn't concerned with brand as much as quality. I realize these cups are popular, too, but I just wanted something in a non-garish color, no bold logo, that would keep my smoothie icy, and that had a thick enough straw. And that's exactly what this Simple Modern Trek tumbler is. And it works SO well! The color is muted, the logo is tiny, and when I finally get around to drinking my smoothie an hour after making it, it's just as thick and frozen as when it came out of the blender. I like that the straw is wide, it's seated in a rubber seal to prevent any leaks, and the lid can be put on specifically to position the straw where I want it. Pros:
- Great handle that fits all my fingers, a lot of ones under 40oz only fit 3
- Uncomplicated lid, just a straw hole, which is only thing I ever use. Good wide straw too. Also handy that you can lock it in 4 different positions.
- Fits my car's small cupholder which doesn't have much overhead room (Toyota Prius C). Most good tumblers are 40 oz, which don't fit
- Sleek matte look. The other colors I've seen in person look good too.
- Actually leak proof, unless you turn it upside down of course
- Seems sturdy and is easy to clean, no areas that are hard to get to because top and bottom of lid are flat. Think this will be with me for a while!
- Has inspired me to write what might be my first Amazon review
Cons:
- May not be as insulated as some, at least how they're advertised, I haven't used the big brands like Stanley. If it's full of ice it won't melt for at least a day though
